TL;DR: In this paper, the free ditertiary aminomethylphosphine ligand (DIPAPTES) was used as a catalysts for the synthesis of 2-methyl naphthalene (2MN) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as a clean and cheap oxidant.
Abstract: Ru(II), Pd(II), and Co(II) complexes of the free ditertiary aminomethylphosphine ligand, N,N-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)aminopropyltriethoxysilane [(EtO)3Si(CH2)3 N(CH2PPh2)2] (DIPAPTES), and its SiO2-DIPAPES have been synthesized under a nitrogen atmosphere using Schlenk techniques. All the complexes were used as catalysts for the oxidation of 2-methyl naphthalene (2MN) to give 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (vitamin K3, menadione, 2MNQ) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as a clean and cheap oxidant. The catalytic synthesis of vitamin K3 was investigated using both homogeneous catalysis with free complexes and heterogeneous catalysis with silica-supported complexes. [(DIPAPTES)PdCl2] and its silica-supported form showed the best catalytic activity for the selective oxidation of 2-methyl naphthalene to 2-methyl-1,4-naphtoquinone compared to the other metal complexes. 2MNQ yield reached 52.26% with the 2MN conversion of 90.52% using complex [(DIPAPTES)PdCl2] and 58.59% with the 2MN conversion of 99.56% us...

TL;DR: In this paper, Tian-Calvet-type microcalorimetry was used volumetric system to determine adsorption isotherms of water vapor-silica gel.
Abstract: Water vapor adsorption on silica gel was investigated using Tian–Calvet-type microcalorimetry. Differential heat of adsorption data was obtained. The setup of microcalorimetry was used volumetric system to determine adsorption isotherms of water vapor–silica gel. The Langmuir model was used in the interpretation of the adsorption data. The Clausius–Clapeyron diagram was also given. Effective mass diffusivity of water vapor in the silica gel particle as a function of temperature was also determined. The silica gel, which was degassed under vacuum at 10−7 mbar and 120 °C for 18 h, was found to adsorb 0.6, 0.98, 1.1, 1.4, 2, 3.5, 11, 13, and 14 wt% water vapor at 120, 110, 100, 90, 75, 60, 40, 35, and 30 °C, respectively. The diffusivities of water vapor inside the silica gel for short- and long-range periods were described using kinetics data as a function of temperature in the Arrhenius form.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of land-use/land-cover changes (LUCC) on the urban heat island (UHI) using Landsat images were investigated using USGS/NASA Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus data from 2000 to 2018.
Abstract: Urban heat island (UHI) has been a detrimental problem over the last decades. Also, climate change has obtained more attention due to increased urbanization. Turkey is one of the countries experiencing a rapid urbanization which has resulted in significant UHI impacts on the regional climate and environment. This study was conducted in Osmaniye city, Turkey, where there is a need to determine the effects of land-use/land-cover changes (LUCC) on the UHI using Landsat images. The geospatial analyses were undertaken using USGS/NASA Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus geospatial data from 2000 to 2018. The results showed that percent cover of urban areas significantly increased from 6.13 to 17.76%, broad-leaved forest cover decreased from 14.2 to 11.6%, road and rail network cover increased from 5.23 to 10.85%, and coniferous forest cover decreased from 15.85 to 9.02% between 2000 and 2018. During the process of urbanization from 2000 to 2018, most of the bare land cover was converted to agricultural lands and urbanized areas due to vegetative degradation, and industrial units cover increased from 7.76 to 9.53%. The land surface temperature was 35.57 °C for approximately 25% of the study area in 2000, while the same temperature was calculated for 76% of the study area in 2018. The results suggest that LUCC from vegetation to urbanized areas has significantly increased the land surface temperature. This implies that the application of remote sensing technique could help to design methods to mitigate UHI effects by estimating future land-use/land-cover change in urban areas.

TL;DR: In this article, a new ejector subcooling system is described and investigated numerically without using an extra pump or compressor, and the results show that the best performance is obtained for R1234yf with an increment of about 20% in coefficient of performance and 18% in exergy efficiency.
