Abstract: Evolution of the laminated woven natural fiber fabric-reinforced polymer composite structures makes a way to the development of the non-uniform laminated composite structures in order to achieve the stiffness variation throughout the structure. An attempt is made in this work to carry out the experimental and numerical investigations on the dynamic characteristics of the thickness-tapered laminated woven jute/epoxy and woven aloe/epoxy composite plates. The governing differential equations of motion for the thickness-tapered laminated composite plate are developed using the h-p version FEM based on higher order shear deformation theory. The validation of the present finite element formulation is carried out by comparing the natural frequencies obtained using the finite element formulation with those natural frequencies determined experimentally. Abstract: With the COVID-19 pandemic still wreaking havoc worldwide, new variants being discovered every month in some parts of the globe due to the mutating nature of the virus. There is no specific solution for this highly transmissible disease. In search of a lead molecule for the discovery and development of drug, extensive research is being conducted throughout the world. Many synthetic drugs are already in clinical trials and some are utilized for the treatment of this viral infection. Apart from synthetic drugs, phytocompounds from plants act as a potential drug candidate which can inhibit the growth of virus and thus able to prevent the viral infection. In this study, 26 ligands (bioactive compounds) from Boswellia serrata (an important medicinal plant) were tested against SARS-CoV-2 by using computational method. Selected ligands were shortlisted using Lipinski's rule and then subjected to molecular docking against one of the main proteins of SARS-CoV-2, i.e., Mpro. Out of these compounds, Euphane, Ursane, α-Amyrin, Phytosterols, and 2,3-Dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid were potential to inhibit the Mpro activity with binding energies of - 10.47 kcal/mol, - 10.41 kcal/mol, - 9.99 kcal/mol, - 9.94 kcal/mol and - 9.72 kcal/mol respectively. A comparative study was performed using the best five ligands against four possible drug targets of SARS-CoV-2. It was found that Euphane showed highest negative binding energy against all the four crucial targets of SARS-CoV-2. Further, in-vitro experimentation is required to validate the use of Euphane as a potent drug against SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract: The emergence of fluorescence quantum dots (QDs) has led to the development of variety of applications in science and technology. Owing to the diverse optical and electrical properties of CdS QDs we have synthesized the same using wet chemical method. The QDs have been prepared at sub-room temperature using a new solvent comprising a mixture of water and methanol. The QDs when seen under UV light radiate violet color. The band-gap of the QDs deduced from the absorption spectra was 3.08 eV while PL spectra of the QDs suggested possibility of multiple exciton generation with a close to narrow size distribution. XRD analysis confirmed cubic structure of the particles. The obtained results suggest that these QDs can play ideal role in quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSC) or in light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Abstract: Among the most common chronic diseases in the world, Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an extremely studied and widely manifested multi-factorial disease which deliberately requires multi-modal therapeutic strategies [1]. It has an age-old history of being recognized and even symptomised in various cultures of the world majorly as glycosuria (sweet urine). Hence, the treatment strategies for DM have been in the process of development and documentation since a long time in traditional medicine systems. Back then the nature of drug used to be mostly unorganized and crude. The major difference now in the modern era is that the treatment strategies basically concentrate on identifying, isolating, modifying or searching alternatives of the lead compounds and exact active principles which attribute to the desired therapeutic nature of the plant. The aim of this paper is to acknowledge the various treatment methods available for Diabetes mellitus and to review the Traditional Indian herbs and plants which are most efficiently, safely and widely accepted medicament for DM and source of future lead compounds and family-wise segregation of these plants. This review is in total compliance with the strong and effective traditional medicinal systems of India.
