A computer program for simulating ground-water flow in three dimensions by using a block-centered finite-difference approach and has a modular structure, which permits the addition of new packages to the program without modifying existing packages.Abstract:
A computer program for simulating ground-water flow in three dimensions is presented. This report includes detailed explanations of physical and mathematical concepts on which the model is developed. Ground-water flow within the aquifer is simulated by using a block-centered finite-difference approach. The program is written in Fortran 77 and has a modular structure, which permits the addition of new packages to the program without modifying existing packages.read more

Groundwater management and coal bed methane development in the Powder River Basin of Montana.
TL;DR: In this article, coal bed methane (CBM) development will eventually pump more than 124,000ha-m of groundwater, or more than 40% of the recharge, from the coal seam and sandstone aquifers of the Montana portion of the Powder River Basin (PRB) This will relieve the hydrostatic pressure, by causing a drawdown in the potentiometric surface and drawing groundwater from storage and natural discharges, to release the methane gas.

Hydrogeological model of the Baltic Artesian Basin
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a closed hydrogeological mathematical model for the Baltic Artesian Basin (BAB) and used the finite element method for the calculation of the steady-state three-dimensional (3D) flow of unconfined groundwater.

The research of groundwater flow model in Ejina Basin, Northwestern China
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors analyzed the groundwater-level variations of the Ejina region basin on a large-scale, to develop and evaluate a conceptual groundwater model in EJina Basin; according to the experimental observation data, to establish the groundwater flow model combining MODFLOW and GIS Software; simulated the regional hydrologic regime in recent 10 years and compared with various delivery scenarios from midstream; determined which one would be the best plan for maintaining and recovering the groundwater levels and increasing the area of EjINA Oasis.
