TLDR
In this article, a spectral element method was proposed for numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, where the computational domain is broken into a series of elements, and the velocity in each element is represented as a highorder Lagrangian interpolant through Chebyshev collocation points.

Coupling finite element and spectral methods: first results

TL;DR: In this paper, a Poisson equation on a rectangular domain is solved by coupling two methods: the domain is divided in two squares, a finite element approximation is used on the first square and a spectral discretization on the second one.

Adaptive mesh strategies for the spectral element method

TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive spectral method was developed for the efficient solution of time dependent partial differential equations for driven flow in a cavity, where sharp gradients, singularities, and regions of poor resolution were resolved optimally as they developed in time using error estimators which indicate the choice of refinement to be used.

TL;DR: In this article, the main flow and the captive eddy between it and the walls are analyzed, and it is concluded that the main role of the eddy is to shape the flow with a rather small energy exchange.
