TLDR
In this article, a spectral element method was proposed for numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, where the computational domain is broken into a series of elements, and the velocity in each element is represented as a highorder Lagrangian interpolant through Chebyshev collocation points.

Nonlinear interaction of shear flow with a free surface

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the nonlinear evolution of two-dimensional shear-flow instabilities near the ocean surface using a direct simulation of the incompressible Euler equations subject to the dynamic and kinematic boundary conditions at the free surface.

Least-squares spectral element method for radiative heat transfer in semitransparent media

TL;DR: In this article, a least square spectral element method based on the discrete-ordinate equation is developed to solve multidimensional radiative heat transfer problems in semitransparent media.

Stable spectral methods for conservation laws on triangles with unstructured grids

TL;DR: Lagrange interpolation on a general two-dimensional nodal set is employed and, by imposing the boundary conditions weakly through a penalty term, the scheme is proven stable in L-2 and shown to result in an O(n(-2) restriction on the time-step when considering explicit time-stepping.

Progress in direct numerical simulation of turbulent transport and its control

TL;DR: In this article, a direct numerical simulation of a channel flow under coupled dynamical effects of buoyant and Coriolis forces reveals peculiar phenomena of momentum and heat transfer with the quasi-coherent structures being strikingly altered.

Computational and experimental study of a captive annular eddy

TL;DR: In this article, the main flow and the captive eddy between it and the walls are analyzed, and it is concluded that the main role of the eddy is to shape the flow with a rather small energy exchange.
