Distinct Contributions of the Dorsolateral Prefrontal and Orbitofrontal Cortex during Emotion Regulation
Armita Golkar,Tina B. Lonsdorf,Andreas Olsson,Kara M. Lindstrom,Jonathan Berrebi,Peter Fransson,Martin Schalling,Martin Ingvar,Arne Öhman +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that relative to the lateral OFC, the DLPFC serves a more general role in emotion regulation, perhaps by reflecting the cognitive demand that is inherent to the regulation task.

The variation of function across the human insula mirrors its patterns of structural connectivity: Evidence from in vivo probabilistic tractography
Lauren L. Cloutman,Richard J. Binney,Mark Drakesmith,Geoffrey J. M. Parker,Matthew A. Lambon Ralph +4 more
TL;DR: The connectivity patterns identified reveal two complementary insular networks connected via a dual route architecture, and provide key insights about the neural basis of the numerous functions ascribed to this area.

A Neural Signature of Anorexia Nervosa in the Ventral Striatal Reward System
Anne-Katharina Fladung,Georg Grön,Karl Grammer,Bärbel Herrnberger,Edgar Schilly,Sabine Grasteit,Robert Christian Wolf,Henrik Walter,Jörn von Wietersheim +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the ventral striatal system in response to disease-specific stimuli in women with acute anorexia nervosa was examined, and participants were required to process each stimulus in a self-referring way.

Testosterone reduces amygdala-orbitofrontal cortex coupling.
Guido van Wingen,Guido van Wingen,Claudia Mattern,Robbert-Jan Verkes,Robbert-Jan Verkes,Jan K. Buitelaar,Jan K. Buitelaar,Guillén Fernández,Guillén Fernández +8 more
TL;DR: Results show that testosterone rapidly reduced functional coupling of the amygdala with the orbitofrontal cortex, and enhanced amygdala coupling with the thalamus, which suggests that testosterone may reduce the regulatory control over the amygdala, or that testosterone shifts amygdala output away from the orbit ofrontal cortex towards theThalamus.

Hippocampal Network Connectivity and Activation Differentiates Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder From Generalized Anxiety Disorder
TL;DR: These findings provide new insights into the neural circuit-level dysfunctions that account for similar vs different features of two major anxiety disorders, through a translational framework built on animal work and carefully selected clinical disorders.

Statistical parametric maps in functional imaging: A general linear approach
Karl J. Friston,Andrew P. Holmes,Keith J. Worsley,J-B. Poline,Chris D. Frith,Richard S. J. Frackowiak +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a general approach that accommodates most forms of experimental layout and ensuing analysis (designed experiments with fixed effects for factors, covariates and interaction of factors).

Spatial registration and normalization of images
Karl J. Friston,John Ashburner,Chris D. Frith,Jean-Baptiste Poline,Jon D. Heather,Richard S. J. Frackowiak +5 more
TL;DR: A general technique that facilitates nonlinear spatial (stereotactic) normalization and image realignment is presented that minimizes the sum of squares between two images following non linear spatial deformations and transformations of the voxel (intensity) values.

Automated Talairach Atlas labels for functional brain mapping
Jack L. Lancaster,Marty G. Woldorff,Lawrence M. Parsons,Mario Liotti,Catarina S. Freitas,Lacy Rainey,Peter Kochunov,D. S. Nickerson,Shawn A. Mikiten,Peter T. Fox +9 more
TL;DR: When used in concert with authors' deeper knowledge of an experiment, the TD system provides consistent and comprehensive labels for brain activation foci, which is better than that of the expert group.

Automatic 3-D model-based neuroanatomical segmentation
TL;DR: A 3‐D model‐based segmentation method is presented in this paper for the completely automatic identification and delineation of gross anatomical structures of the human brain based on their appearance in magnetic resonance images (MRI).
