Application of Actinobacterial and Fungal Morphology on the Design ofOperating Strategies in Bioprocess Development

TLDR
This review is concerned with the application of morphological variables to correlate with bioprocess parameters for explaining optimal production strategy.
Abstract
Various options in biotechnology have been exercised to produce industrially important metabolites from fila- mentous organisms. To select a suitable production strategy, the direct and indirect roles of morphological parameters in controlling bioprocess variables are observed. Some progress has been made in quantitation of morphology.Useful corre- lations have been reported in the literature in this avenue. Of course, some of the models, with proper modification, can be used to explain the morphological phenomena. This review is concerned with the application of morphological variables to correlate with bioprocess parameters for explaining optimal production strategy.

Advances in batch culture fermented Coriolus versicolor medicinal mushroom for the production of antibacterial compounds

TL;DR: The results suggested that the submerged cultivation of Coriolus versicolor followed by ethanol precipitation of EPS and the methanol extraction of mycelia can be a promising process to obtain biological active compounds with significant antimicrobial activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization of laccase fermentation and evaluation of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of a partially purified laccase produced by Daedalea flavida.

TL;DR: The production of laccase was optimized by the application of response surface methodology and was 8-fold and 7.5-fold more in static and low-speed shake conditions, respectively, in an optimal medium composition than in an unoptimized medium.

Citric acid production by Aspergillus niger immobilized on cellulose microfibrils: influence of morphology and fermenter conditions on productivity

TL;DR: In the fed batch mode using a recycle reactor, the DO of the system was maintained at 20 mg l−1 using oxygen enriched air, which improved volumetric productivity and resulted in a increase of at least 15-fold over results obtained simultaneously using shake-flasks and a conventional aerated batch reactor.

Improvement of Riboflavin Production Using Mineral Support in the Culture of Ashbya gossypii

TL;DR: Riboflavin production in a culture of Ashbya gossypii was enhanced by adding mineral support with adsorbed soybean oil, and mycelial autolysis was delayed for 2 days due to the presence of mineral support.

Morphometric evaluation of the specific growth rate of Aspergillus niger grown in agar plates at high glucose levels

TL;DR: A kinetic model based on morphometric data to estimate the specific growth rate of molds, obtained from dry weight data, using mold cultures grown in the same solid medium i.e., agar plates is validated.

Influence of metal ions on pellet morphology and polygalacturonase synthesis by Aspergillus niger 3T5B8

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of cations addition on pellet morphology and polygalacturonase (PG) synthesis by Aspergillus niger 3T5B8 were studied and compared with a control system.

Assessment of the microbody luminal pH in the filamentous fungus Penicillium chrysogenum.

TL;DR: The pH of the microbody lumen in penicillin producing cells has been determined with fluorescent probes and mutants of the green fluorescent protein and found to be slightly alkaline.
