Assessing Radiologist Performance Using Combined Digital Mammography and Breast Tomosynthesis Compared with Digital Mammography Alone: Results of a Multicenter, Multireader Trial

TLDR
Addition of tomosynthesis to digital mammography offers the dual benefit of significantly increased diagnostic accuracy and significantly reduced recall rates for noncancer cases.
Abstract
The addition of tomosynthesis to digital mammography offers the dual benefit of improved diagnostic accuracy and significant reduction in false-positive recall rate, thereby avoiding unnecessary additional testing and decreasing attendant anxiety, inconvenience, and cost for women.

Initial Experience of Tomosynthesis-Guided Vacuum-Assisted Biopsies of Tomosynthesis-Detected (2D Mammography and Ultrasound Occult) Architectural Distortions.

TL;DR: Tomosynthesis-guided vacuum-assisted biopsies for ADs that were occult at 2D mammography and ultrasound is a minimally invasive method that detected a significant number of carcinomas, most of which were grade 1 cancers.
Journal ArticleDOI

A method for the automated classification of benign and malignant masses on digital breast tomosynthesis images using machine learning and radiomic features

TL;DR: An automated classification method for diagnosing breast lesions on digital breast tomosynthesis images using radiomics to comprehensively analyze the radiological images is developed and indicates that the proposed method may help in more accurately diagnosing cases that are difficult to classify on images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Automated volumetric breast density estimation out of digital breast tomosynthesis data: feasibility study of a new software version.

TL;DR: VBD from DBT was well correlated to that from FFDM, though significant differences were observed between the two, and the feasibility and consistency of this new automated software was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative Efficacy of Four Imaging Instruments for Breast Cancer Screening.

TL;DR: Patients at high-risk of breast cancer were studied beside normal or sensitive women and the image modality performance of each breast test was compared for each.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnostic Efficacy of Synthesized 2D Digital Breast Tomosynthesis in Multi-ethnic Malaysian Population.

TL;DR: Investigating the diagnostic efficacy of synthesized 2D images (C-View) in comparison to full field digital mammography (FFDM) when used with digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in multi-ethnic Malaysian population found high level of interreader agreement and density assessment.

Screening for Lung Cancer: U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement

TL;DR: Although lung cancer screening is not an alternative to smoking cessation, the USPSTF found adequate evidence that annual screening for lung cancer with LDCT in a defined population of high-risk persons can prevent a substantial number of lung cancerrelated deaths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnostic Performance of Digital versus Film Mammography for Breast-Cancer Screening

TL;DR: The overall diagnostic accuracy of digital and film mammography as a means of screening for breast cancer is similar, but digital mammography is more accurate in women under the age of 50 years, women with radiographically dense breasts, and premenopausal or perimenopausal women.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individual and combined effects of age, breast density, and hormone replacement therapy use on the accuracy of screening mammography.

TL;DR: The accuracy of screening mammography is best in older women and in women with fatty breasts, and the individual and combined effects of age, breast density, and HRT use on mammographic accuracy are examined.
