TLDR
Addition of tomosynthesis to digital mammography offers the dual benefit of significantly increased diagnostic accuracy and significantly reduced recall rates for noncancer cases.Abstract:
The addition of tomosynthesis to digital mammography offers the dual benefit of improved diagnostic accuracy and significant reduction in false-positive recall rate, thereby avoiding unnecessary additional testing and decreasing attendant anxiety, inconvenience, and cost for women.read more

Trimboli,Marco Zappa,Chiara Zuiani,Francesco Sardanelli +31 more
TL;DR: Evidence exists in favor of DBT usage in women with clinical symptoms/signs and asymptomatic women with screen-detected findings recalled for work-up and the possibility to perform needle biopsy or localization under DBT guidance should be offered when DBT-only findings need characterization or surgery.

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) to Characterize MRI-Detected Additional Lesions Unidentified at Targeted Ultrasound in Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients
Giovanna Mariscotti,Nehmat Houssami,Manuela Durando,Pier Paolo Campanino,E. Regini,Alberto Fornari,Riccardo Bussone,Isabella Castellano,Anna Sapino,Paolo Fonio,Giovanni Gandini +10 more
TL;DR: DBT improves the characterization of additional MR findings not identified at targeted breast US in preoperative breast cancer staging, and the identified lesions were significantly more likely to be malignant than benign MR-detected additional lesions.

TL;DR: DBT has the potential to increase diagnostic accuracy and simplify the assessment process in the breast cancer assessment clinic and may reduce the need for additional views, ultrasound imaging, and biopsy.

Personalised screening: is this the way forward?
Fiona J. Gilbert,Ayla Selamoglu +1 more
TL;DR: The literature is reviewed to establish the current status of digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), automated breast ultrasound (ABUS), contrast-enhanced mammography (CESM) or abbreviated (ABB) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the cost-effectiveness of these techniques requires further investigation.

First-in-Human Study of Acoustic Angiography in the Breast and Peripheral Vasculature
TL;DR: The translation of a contrast-enhanced ultrasound technique, acoustic angiography, to human imaging is described and results indicate that sensitivity and spatial resolution are sufficient to image vessels as small as 0.2 mm in diameter at depths of ~15mm in the human breast.

Screening for Lung Cancer: U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement
TL;DR: Although lung cancer screening is not an alternative to smoking cessation, the USPSTF found adequate evidence that annual screening for lung cancer with LDCT in a defined population of high-risk persons can prevent a substantial number of lung cancerrelated deaths.

TL;DR: 7 years after the start of the study the excess of stage I cancers in the study group largely outweighs the deficit of advanced cancers, and the results to the end of 1984 show a 31% reduction in mortality from breast cancer and a 25% reduced in the rate of stage II or more advanced breast cancers.

TL;DR: The overall diagnostic accuracy of digital and film mammography as a means of screening for breast cancer is similar, but digital mammography is more accurate in women under the age of 50 years, women with radiographically dense breasts, and premenopausal or perimenopausal women.

TL;DR: The USPSTF concludes that the current evidence is insufficient to assess additional benefits and harms of either digital mammography or magnetic resonance imaging instead of film mammography as screening modalities for breast cancer.
