Buckling and free vibration analyses of functionally graded graphene reinforced porous nanocomposite plates based on Chebyshev-Ritz method

TLDR
In this paper, the buckling and free vibration behaviors of functionally graded (FG) porous nanocomposite plates reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs) were investigated. And a comprehensive parametric investigation on the influences of the weight fraction and geometric parameters of GPL nanofiller and the porosity coefficient was conducted to identify the most effective way to achieve improved buckling.

Functionally graded graphene reinforced composite structures: a review

TL;DR: The most recently developed functionally graded graphene platelets reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) where GPLs are non-uniformly dispersed with more GPLs in the area where they are most needed to achieve significantly improved mechanical performance has opened up a new avenue for the development of next generation structural forms with an excellent combination of high stiffness, light weight and multi-functionality.

Nonlinear vibration of metal foam cylindrical shells reinforced with graphene platelets

TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlinear vibration analysis of metal foam circular cylindrical shells reinforced with graphene platelets is performed, and the results demonstrate that GPL reinforced metal foam (GPLRMF) shells exhibit hardening-spring vibration characteristics.

Nonlinear vibration and dynamic buckling analyses of sandwich functionally graded porous plate with graphene platelet reinforcement resting on Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation

TL;DR: In this paper, the nonlinear vibration and the dynamic buckling of a graphene platelet reinforced sandwich functionally graded porous (GPL-SFGP) plate are thoroughly investigated and the effects of the Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation, thermal environment and damping are incorporated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bending, free vibration, and buckling of modified couples stress-based functionally graded porous micro-plates

TL;DR: In this paper, bending, free vibration, and buckling response of functionally graded porous micro-plates are investigated using the classical and first-order shear deformation plate theories.

Nonlinear free vibration of functionally graded graphene platelets reinforced porous nanocomposite plates resting on elastic foundation

TL;DR: In this article, the free vibration of functionally graded (FG) porous nanocomposite plates reinforced with a small amount of graphene platelets (GPLs) and supported by the two-parameter elastic foundations with different boundary conditions was investigated.

Enhanced mechanical properties of nanocomposites at low graphene content.

TL;DR: Graphene platelets significantly out-perform carbon nanotube additives in terms of mechanical properties enhancement, and may be related to their high specific surface area, enhanced nanofiller-matrix adhesion/interlocking arising from their wrinkled (rough) surface, as well as the two-dimensional geometry of graphene platelets.
