Studies on a diesel engine fuelled with used transformer oil at different fuel injection nozzle opening pressures

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different injection nozzle opening pressures on the performance and emissions of a compression ignition engine were evaluated, compared with standard diesel fuel operation, and the results indicated that UTO at 230 bar fuel nozzle opening pressure gave a better performance with lower emissions than diesel fuel at 200 bar.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface generation in ultrasonic-assisted high-speed superabrasive grinding under minimum quantity cooling lubrication with various fluids

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of fluid's lubricity on grit-workpiece interaction has been investigated during the grinding of Ti-6Al-4V super-alloys in terms of reduced forces and surface roughness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization of Esters of Nerium Biodiesel in a Diesel Engine

TL;DR: In this paper, a single cylinder stationary kirloskar engine is used to compare the Performance and Emission and Combustion characteristics between pure diesel and nerium blends, and the results show that methyl esters of nerium oil (MEON) produced slightly higher efficiency than ethyl esters (EEON) compared to MEON.
Dissertation

Reduction of NOx emission in diesel engine using Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Santosh Panda
TL;DR: In this paper, a twin-cylinder, water cooled, constant speed direct injection diesel engine was used for an experiment to evaluate the NOx emission from jatropha biodiesel fueled CI engine.

Biodiesel Development and Characterization for Use as a Fuel in Compression Ignition Engines

TL;DR: In this article, a series of engine tests provided adequate and relevant information that the biodiesel can be used as an alternative, environment friendly fuel in existing diesel engines without substantial hardware modification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodiesel production in Europe and North America, an encouraging prospect

W. Körbitz
- 01 Jan 1999 -
TL;DR: A review of the political background, the historical development since the beginnings in Austria and the volumes produced today in the world, the main raw materials used, key fuel properties and standards is given in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Life cycle analysis of biofuels under different environmental aspects

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that bioenergy carriers offer some clear ecological advantages over fossil fuels, such as conserving fossil energy resources or reducing the greenhouse effect, but they also have some definite disadvantages when the overall life cycle is considered.
Journal Article

Comparison of Relevant Exhaust Gas Emissions from Biodiesel and Fossil Diesel Fuel

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared diesel fuel and rape seed oil methylester with regard to exhaust gas emissions and effects of these emissions on human health and the environment, and found that a significant soot reduction was associated with a lower mutagenic potency of the particulate matter.
