Characterization of microstructures in Inconel 625 using X-ray diffraction peak broadening and lattice parameter measurements

TLDR
In this paper, three parameters which are microstrain, lattice parameter and crystallite size, obtained from X-ray diffraction line profile analysis, were used in a complementary way to study the precipitation/dissolution of various intermetallics and carbides in nickel base superalloy Inconel 625, without extracting the precipitates from the matrix.

Quantification of the influence of increased pre-stretching on microstructure-strength relationships in the Al–Cu–Li alloy AA2195

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of increasing pre-stretching to higher levels, than are currently used in industrial practice, has been investigated on the strength, microstructure, and precipitation kinetics seen during artificial ageing an AA2195 - focussing on the behaviour of the main strengthening phase, T 1.

Size–strain study of NiO nanoparticles by X-ray powder diffraction line broadening

TL;DR: In this article, the size and microstrain of NiO nanoparticles were calculated using Williamson-Hall plots and compared with the results obtained from the Scherrer equation, showing that the straight line obtained in the Williamson-hall plotting shows the homogeneity of the nanoparticles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of heat treatment on the microstructural evolution of a nickel-based superalloy additive-manufactured by laser powder bed fusion.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a subsequent homogenization heat treatment can effectively homogenize the AM alloy and remove the deleterious δ phase, and the combined experimental and modeling methodology can be extended to elucidate the phase evolution during heat treatments in a broad range of AM materials.

A profile refinement method for nuclear and magnetic structures

TL;DR: In this paper, a structure refinement method was described which does not use integrated neutron powder intensities, single or overlapping, but employs directly the profile intensities obtained from step-scanning measurements of the powder diagram.

X-ray line broadening from filed aluminium and wolfram

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a Geiger counter spectrometer to measure the changes in intensity distribution in the spectra of cold worked aluminium and wolfram and found that the line breadths may be attributed to simultaneous small particle size and strain broadening, the latter predominating at the higher Bragg angles.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Inconel 625 superalloy

TL;DR: In this article, the service-exposed Alloy 625 ammonia cracker tubes showed higher strength and lower ductility compared to the virgin material in the solution annealed state, and the dissolution of the Ni2(Cr,Mo)-phase exhibited significant influence upon yield strength (YS) but negligible effect on ductility.
