A cross-sectional study on the prevalence of subclinical mastitis and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of the bacterial isolates in milk samples of smallholder dairy goats in Kenya

TL;DR: This study carried out in dairy goats under zero grazing system in Mount Kenya region, from January 2012 to December 2012 to determine the prevalence of subclinical mastitis in lactating goats and the antibiotic sensitivity of the isolated bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative analysis of agr groups and virulence genes among subclinical and clinical mastitis Staphylococcus aureus isolates from sheep flocks of the Northeast of Brazil.

TL;DR: To ascertain the prevalence of the different agr groups and to evaluate the occurrence of encoding genes for cytotoxin, adhesins and toxins with superantigen activity in S. aureus isolates from milk of ewes with clinical and subclinical mastitis in sheep flocks raised for meat production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Major causes of mastitis and associated risk factors in smallholder dairy cows in Shashemene, southern Ethiopia

TL;DR: Culling of old and chronically affected cows, screening for mastitis, awareness creation among smallholder farmers about the importance of sub-clinical mastitis and milking and barn hygiene should be considered in reducing the effect of mastitis.

Resistência a antimicrobianos em Staphylococcus aureus isolados de mastite em bovinos leiteiros de Minas Gerais, Brasil Antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from mastitis in dairy herds from the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil

TL;DR: High variation in antimicrobial resistance profiles and the occurrence of multidrug resistance among some studied strains are pointed out, highlighting the importance of antibiogram tests for the choice of an appropriate drug to be used for the treatment or prevention of mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mannheimia haemolytica pleuropneumonia in goats associated with shipping stress

TL;DR: Stressed goats transported from the Northeast to the Southern region of Brazil died during shipment, or 2-3 days after unloading, and non-hemolytic strains of M. haemolytica may cause this condition in goats with severe immunosuppression.
