Journal ArticleDOI

π−π Interactions in Organometallic Systems. Crystal Structures and Spectroscopic Properties of Luminescent Mono-, Bi-, and Trinuclear Trans-cyclometalated Platinum(II) Complexes Derived from 2,6-Diphenylpyridine

TL;DR: A series of mono-and multinuclear dicyclometalated platinum(II) complexes were synthesized from [Pt(C∧N∧C)DMso] (dmso = dimethyl sulfoxide).
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen bonds and other intermolecular interactions in organometallic crystals

TL;DR: The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) is an essential tool in the analysis of weak intermolecular interactions as discussed by the authors, which can be used to obtain a more complete idea of organometallic crystal architecture.
Journal ArticleDOI

Template and Guest Effects on the Self‐Assembly of a Neutral and Homochiral Helix

TL;DR: Coordination-driven assembly based on manganese(II) centers and flexible 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane leads to the solid-state formation of electronically neutral, self-templated homochiral helices, closed ring structures, and racemic mixtures of helices depending upon the presence or absence of guests such as benzene and 1,2-diphenylethane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supramolecular chemistry. Going for gold.

TL;DR: There is growing evidence that there are interactions between the gold atoms that are similar in strength to hydrogen bonds, according to research published in the journal Science.

The Protein Data Bank: a computer-based archival file for macromolecular structures.

TL;DR: The Protein Data Bank is a computer-based archival file for macromolecular structures that stores in a uniform format atomic co-ordinates and partial bond connectivities, as derived from crystallographic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Patterns in Hydrogen Bonding: Functionality and Graph Set Analysis in Crystals

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the most promising systematic approaches to resolving this enigma was initially developed by the late M. C. Etter, who applied graph theory to recognize, and then utilize, patterns of hydrogen bonding for the understanding and design of molecular crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supramolecular Synthons in Crystal Engineering—A New Organic Synthesis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that crystal engineering is a new organic synthesis, and that rather than being only nominally relevant to organic chemistry, this subject is well within the mainstream, being surprisingly similar to traditional organic synthesis in concept.
Journal ArticleDOI

Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry—From Molecular Recognition towards Molecular Information Processing and Self‐Organization

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a self-assembly approach for the generation of a well-defined supramolecular architecture by self-assembling from their components under a given set of conditions.
