Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of an ABC tricyclic model of the cylindrospermopsin alkaloids via a biomimetically inspired pathway
TL;DR: Two tricyclic guanidine model compounds 28 and 29 have been prepared in 12 steps from 1,5-pentanediol using a biomimetic synthetic approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cylindrospermopsin induces biochemical changes leading to programmed cell death in plants.
Márta M-Hamvas,Kitti Ajtay,Dániel Beyer,Katalin Jámbrik,Gábor Vasas,Gyula Surányi,Csaba Máthé +6 more
TL;DR: CYN treatment induces chromatin fragmentation and PCD in plant cells by activating specific nucleases and proteases, and CYN is proposed to be a suitable molecule to study the mechanism of plant apoptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of toxin content in Cylindrospermopsis raciborski (Wołoszyńska) Seenaya and Subba Raju and Aphanizomenon ovalisporum (Forti) strains isolated from shallow lakes of Hungary.
TL;DR: Cylindrospermopsin (CYN) is an alkaloid type cytotoxic metabolite produced by several cyanobacterial species, which caused human illnesses, but recently it is appearing in several countries, all over the world.

Cylindrospermopsin impairs tubular transport function in kidney cells LLC-PK1.
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of CYN exposure (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 μg/mL) on tubular renal cells LLC-PK1 distinct mechanisms were analyzed by assessing cell death using flow cytometry, albumin uptake by fluorescence analysis, Na+/K+-ATPase activity by a colorimetric method, RT-qPCR of genes related to tubular transport and function as well as internalization by ELISA.
