Development of cookie test for the simultaneous determination of glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance and postprandial dyslipidemia.

TLDR
The cookie test provided more informations compared with OGTT using liquid glucose and with fewer side effects, and improved insulin sensitivity over non-exercise group was obverved.

Residual macrovascular risk in 2013: what have we learned?

TL;DR: Monitoring of non-HDL cholesterol provides a simple, practical tool for treatment decisions regarding the management of lipid-related residual cardiovascular risk, and several emerging treatments may offer promise.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorα modulators (SPPARMα): The next generation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α-agonists

TL;DR: Compared to fenofibrate, K-877 has more potent PPARα-activating efficacy in vitro, greater effects on triglycerides- and HDL-C levels in humans, and a reduced risk of adverse effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Postprandial hyperlipidemia as a potential residual risk factor

TL;DR: Postprandial hyperlipidemia is an important and residual risk factor especially in patients with insulin resistance syndrome (metabolic syndrome) and diabetes mellitus and further studies are needed to establish effective treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of differential responses to an oral glucose tolerance test in healthy adults.

TL;DR: This work demonstrated that there were four distinct metabolic responses to the OGTT, with Cluster 1 having the highest BMI, triacylglycerol, hsCRP, c-peptide, insulin and HOMA- IR score and lowest VO2max.

Homeostasis model assessment : insulin resistance and beta-cell function from fasting plasma glucose and insulin concentrations in man

TL;DR: The correlation of the model's estimates with patient data accords with the hypothesis that basal glucose and insulin interactions are largely determined by a simple feed back loop.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical significance, pathogenesis, and management of postprandial hyperglycemia.

TL;DR: This review summarizes epidemiologic and experimental studies linking postprandial hyperglycemia to cardiovascular disease and therapeutic approaches available and in development to treat this disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI

Disorders of Carbohydrate Metabolism

TL;DR: The laboratory diagnosis of neonatal disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, including hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and disorders of fructose metabolism, glycogen storage diseases, and galactosemia, is outlined.

Plasma Insulin and Glucose Responses of Healthy Subjects to Varying Glucose Loads During Three-hour Oral Glucose Tolerance Tests

TL;DR: The fact that incremental changes in glucose load particularly influenced plasma glucose and insulin concentrations relatively late in the glucose tolerance tests, and that mean insulin peakconcentrations did not differ, indicates that increasing glucose load results in a more prolonged insulinogenic stimulus rather than the acute release of greater quantities of insulin relatively abruptly.

Restrictive smoking policies in the workplace: effects on smoking prevalence and cigarette consumption.

TL;DR: The present data are believed to support the idea that restrictive smoking policies have beneficial effects on the smoking habits of employees, but that the magnitude of this effect is modest.
