Statistical Optimization of Saccharification of Alkali Pretreated Wheat Straw for Bioethanol Production

TL;DR: In this paper, a 23 factorial design was used for experiments and data was analyzed by second-order polynomial regression model, under optimized condition of 2% wheat straw, 0.5% enzyme concentration and 6h of time period resulted in 40.15% saccharification of wheat straw.

Isolation of Cellulose from Wheat Straw Using Alkaline Hydrogen Peroxide and Acidified Sodium Chlorite Treatments: Comparison of Yield and Properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparative study was conducted on the isolation of cellulose from wheat straw using two different methods: acidified sodium chlorite and alkaline hydrogen peroxide, and the final product (after treatments) was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for the identification of properties.

Effect of structural features on enzyme digestibility of corn stover.

TL;DR: The enzymatic digestibility of lime-treated corn stover was affected by the change of structural features (acetylation, lignification, and crystallization) resulting from the treatment, and the degree of crystallinity slightly increased from 43% to 60% with delignification because amorphous components (lignin, hemicellulose) were removed, but the increased crystallinity did not negatively affect the 3-d sugar yield of enzymatics.

Alkali pretreated of wheat straw and its enzymatic hydrolysis.

TL;DR: Scanning Electronic Microscopy and infrared spectrum analyses showed that significant changes occurred in the structure of wheat straws after pretreatment, which is favorable for the hydrolysis and saccharification.
