The slow pace of hazardous waste remediation at military installations around the world is causing a serious delay in conversion of many of these facilities to civilian uses as discussed by the authors, which is a serious problem.Abstract:
The civilian, commercial, and defense sectors of most advanced industrialized nations are faced with a tremendous set of environmental problems related to the remediation of hazardous wastes, contaminated groundwaters, and the control of toxic air contaminants. For example, the slow pace of hazardous waste remediation at military installations around the world is causing a serious delay in conversion of many of these facilities to civilian uses. Over the last 10 years problems related to hazardous waste remediation have emerged as a high national and international priority.read more

Lasting antibacterial activities of Ag-TiO2/Ag/a-TiO2 nanocomposite thin film photocatalysts under solar light irradiation.
TL;DR: Durability of the nanocomposite film was at least 11 times higher than the Ag/a-TiO(2) film and the main mechanism for silver ion releasing was inter-diffusion of water and silver nanoparticles through pores of the TiO( 2) layer.

Quantitative Evaluation of the Photoinduced Hydrophilic Conversion Properties of TiO2 Thin Film Surfaces by the Reciprocal of Contact Angle
TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between the reciprocal of the contact angle and the reconstruction of the surface hydroxyl groups was examined and it was shown that the reciprocal correspond to the density of the surfaces reconstructed by UV irradiation.

Degradation of propanol diluted in water under visible light irradiation using metal ion-implanted titanium dioxide photocatalysts
TL;DR: The metal ion-implantation of titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) with metal ions (V +, Mn +, Fe + ) at high energy acceleration and the subsequent calcination of these metal ions-implanted TiO 2 in oxygen at around 725 K resulted in a definite shift in the absorption spectra toward visible light regions.
