CFD-modelling of natural convection in a groundwater-filled borehole heat exchanger

TL;DR: In this paper, a 3 m long borehole containing a single U-pipe with surrounding bedrock was studied by a three-dimensional, steady-state CFD model and the results showed that induced natural convective heat flow significantly decreases the thermal resistance in the borehole.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling and experimental verification of a solar-powered liquid desiccant cooling system for greenhouse food production in hot climates

TL;DR: In this paper, experimental and theoretical modelling have been carried out to predict the performance of a solar-powered liquid desiccant cooling system for greenhouses, and the results showed that the system can reduce average daily maximum temperatures in the hot season by 5.5-7.5 °C, sufficient to maintain viable growing conditions for lettuce throughout the year.
Journal ArticleDOI

Materials for reflective coatings of window glass applications

TL;DR: In this article, a study focused on the selection of convenient materials for thin reflective films and optimisation of their composition in coatings was presented, which brought design recommendations for the optimised composition of thin infrared reflective coatings for window glazing applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

The basics and issues of Thermochromic Liquid Crystal Calibrations

TL;DR: The crucial issues associated with calibrations of TLCs, namely, imaging, colourimetry, illumination, hysteresis, film thickness and aging, and the methods used to compensate for these effects are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The design, fabrication, and evaluation of a ceramic counter-flow microchannel heat exchanger

TL;DR: In this paper, a model-based design and experimental performance evaluation of an all-ceramic compact counter-flow microchannel heat exchanger is presented, which can exceed the capabilities of comparable metal heat exchangers.
