GC/MS evaluation of thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) oil composition and variations during the vegetative cycle

TL;DR: Oils from thyme plants of young (2 years) and old (5 years) cultivations have been evaluated from four and two collections, respectively, effected throughout May/December growth period, and generally, the oil was found to be rich in the active monoterpene phenols and their corresponding monoterPene hydrocarbon precursors, which collectively showed synchronized patterns of variation during the different collection periods and in different seasons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Qualitative and quantitative analyses of flower scent in Silene latifolia.

TL;DR: The quantitative and qualitative variability in floral scent of 98 specimens of the dioecious species Silene latifolia belonging to 15 European and 19 North American populations was determined and the results are compared with other studies investigating intraspecific variability of flower scent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Water deficit effects on Salvia officinalis fatty acids and essential oils composition

TL;DR: Drought decreased significantly the foliar fatty acid content and the double bond index (DBI) degree and later was provoked mainly by a strong reduction of linolenic acid proportion and the disappearance of palmitoleic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical composition, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of the essential oils of three Salvia species from Turkish flora.

TL;DR: Essential oils of three different Salvia species were screened for their possible antioxidant and antimicrobial properties as well as their chemical compositions and similar activity pattern was obtained (both in disc diffusion and MIC tests).
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and use of essential oil from Thymus vulgaris against Botrytis cinerea and Rhizopus stolonifer in strawberry fruits

TL;DR: Essential oil from Laval-2 exhibited higher antifungal activity which was related to its relatively higher content of antimicrobial compounds and no visual phytotoxic symptoms were noticed for the observed period.

A generalization of the retention index system including linear temperature programmed gas-liquid partition chromatography.

TL;DR: The equation given by Kovats for the calculation of the retention index in case of isothermal operation is transformed to a more general form to include also the case of linear temperature programmed operation and gives the same retention index for both ways of operation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gas‐chromatographische Charakterisierung organischer Verbindungen. Teil 1: Retentionsindices aliphatischer Halogenide, Alkohole, Aldehyde und Ketone

E. Kováts
TL;DR: In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Journal ArticleDOI

The identification of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons from gas-liquid chromatography retention data

TL;DR: In this article, the identification of sesquiterpenes by gas-liquid chromatography was evaluated, and the most reproducible form of GLC data was found to be the SESQUERPene data.
