Chemical composition and antioxidant activity of essential oils isolated from Colombian plants

TL;DR: In this article, 13 essential oils from Colombian plants, obtained by hydrodistillation or microwave-assisted hydrodisting of total plant, stem, leaves, and flowers were analyzed by gas-chromatography mass spectrometry techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimisation of solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry based methodology to establish the global volatile signature in pulp and skin of Vitis vinifera L. grape varieties.

TL;DR: The establishment of the global volatile signature of grape and the relationship between different part of grapes-pulp and skin, may be a useful tool to winemaker decision to define the vinification procedures that improves the organoleptic characteristics of the corresponding wines and consequently contributed to an economic valorization and consumer acceptance.

Antimicrobial characteristics of some herbal oils on Pseudomonas aeruginosa with special reference to their chemical compositions.

TL;DR: Evaluating antimicrobial characteristics of essential oils from Matricaria chamomilla, Artemisia persica, Zataria multiflora, Myrtus communis, Ruta graveolens, Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Ferula gummosa found that three of the seven essential oils possess the most potent oils.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical composition of essential oils of Lantana camara leaves and flowers from Cameroon and Madagascar

TL;DR: The essential oils of leaves and flowers of Lantana camara (Verbenaceae) from Cameroon and Madagascar were analyzed by GC-FID and GC-MS in this paper, and the oils are characterized by a high percentage of sesquiterpenes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Essential oil composition of Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume leaves from Little Andaman, India

TL;DR: The leaf oil of Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume grown in Little Andaman was analysed by GC and GC-MS as mentioned in this paper, and the main constituents of the oil were eugenol (76.60%), linalool (8.5%), and piperitone (3.31%).

A generalization of the retention index system including linear temperature programmed gas-liquid partition chromatography.

TL;DR: The equation given by Kovats for the calculation of the retention index in case of isothermal operation is transformed to a more general form to include also the case of linear temperature programmed operation and gives the same retention index for both ways of operation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gas‐chromatographische Charakterisierung organischer Verbindungen. Teil 1: Retentionsindices aliphatischer Halogenide, Alkohole, Aldehyde und Ketone

E. Kováts
TL;DR: In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Journal ArticleDOI

The identification of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons from gas-liquid chromatography retention data

TL;DR: In this article, the identification of sesquiterpenes by gas-liquid chromatography was evaluated, and the most reproducible form of GLC data was found to be the SESQUERPene data.
