Abstract
This new edition is divided into 15 units and each unit has its own divided chapters, altogether consisting of 85 chapters. Unit I is an introduction to physiology consisting of 3 chapters: The cell and general physiology. Unit II addresses membrane physiology, nerve, and muscle, consisting of 5 chapters. Unit VIII has 2 chapters addressing to aviation, space, and deep sea diving physiology. It has a section on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Units IX, X, and XI concern the physiology of the nervous system consisting of 17 chapters which elegantly review different aspects of the human nervous system. All topics discussed are relevant to daily practicing physician/scientist. One example is the important role of thyroid hormone on the growth and development of the brain during fetal, neonatal, and infantile periods, which needs to be emphasized and remembered because of its grave consequences resulting in cretinism.

Underlying mechanisms of oxygen uptake kinetics in chronic post-stroke individuals: A correlational, cross-sectional pilot study.

TL;DR: A greater amount of oxygen uptake during post-walking recovery is partially related to lower skeletal muscle mass, greater arterial stiffness, reduced number of erythrocytes and higher systemic inflammation in post-stroke individuals.

Magnesium Ions Depolarize the Neuronal Membrane via Quantum Tunneling through the Closed Channels

TL;DR: This study aims to identify the mechanism of the depolarization action of magnesium because this may help in offering better therapeutic solutions for fetal neuroprotection and in stabilizing the mood of bipolar patients.

Optimization of low amplitude pulse electric field exposure on colon cancer cell for wound healing application

TL;DR: Examination of the effect of PEF in combination with ECM or TGF-βs on cellular behaviour such as attachment proliferation, adhesion, migration and alignment of HT29 cell line monolayer in vitro revealed that the use ofPEF in the presence of ECM protein have potential implication in wound healing application.

Gendered experiences of living with eating disorders

TL;DR: This doctoral portfolio opens with an empirical piece of research examining men’s lived experiences of binge eating and compensatory behaviours (BECB): men who, based on self-report, have met the diagnostic criteria for bulimia nervosa (BN) but may never have received a formal diagnosis.

Hypochloremia is associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality in patients in the coronary care unit: A cohort study:

TL;DR: Hypochloremia was associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality in critically ill patients in coronary care units and a U-shaped relationship between admission chloride levels and 30-day all- Cause mortality among patients in the CCU was observed.
