Abstract
This new edition is divided into 15 units and each unit has its own divided chapters, altogether consisting of 85 chapters. Unit I is an introduction to physiology consisting of 3 chapters: The cell and general physiology. Unit II addresses membrane physiology, nerve, and muscle, consisting of 5 chapters. Unit VIII has 2 chapters addressing to aviation, space, and deep sea diving physiology. It has a section on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Units IX, X, and XI concern the physiology of the nervous system consisting of 17 chapters which elegantly review different aspects of the human nervous system. All topics discussed are relevant to daily practicing physician/scientist. One example is the important role of thyroid hormone on the growth and development of the brain during fetal, neonatal, and infantile periods, which needs to be emphasized and remembered because of its grave consequences resulting in cretinism.

Quantifying Individual-Level Inaccuracy in Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimation

TL;DR: A substantial individual-level discrepancy exists between the mGFR and the eG FR, and Laboratories reporting eGFR should consider including the extent of this uncertainty to avoid misinterpretation of eGfr as an mG FR replacement.

Comparison of temporal to pulmonary artery temperature in febrile patients.

TL;DR: These data demonstrate the accuracy of TAT when compared with PAT in those with temperatures of 100.4°F or greater, and demonstrate that TAT set to core mode is accurate with a 0.5°F lower temperature than PAT.

Estrogens Suppress Spinal Endomorphin 2 Release in Female Rats in Phase with the Estrous Cycle

TL;DR: The rapid onset of enhanced EM2 release following intrathecal application of ERα/GPR30 antagonists suggests mediation via ERs in the plasma membrane, not the nucleus, and underscores the importance of estrogens for the regulation of spinal EM2 activity and, by extension, endogenous spinalEM2 antinociception in females.

Physical methods for enhancing drug absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.

TL;DR: A plethora of formulation strategies ranging from permeation enhancers, nanosized carriers, and chemical modifications of the drug's structure has been investigated to increase the oral absorption of these macromolecular compounds.

Changes in thyroid hormones, leptin, ghrelin and, galanin following oral melatonin administration in intact and castrated dogs: a preliminary study

TL;DR: It seems that daily administration of melatonin capsule in all dogs can probably decrease concentration of T3 and T4 hormones and balance other metabolic hormones following castration.
