Abstract
This new edition is divided into 15 units and each unit has its own divided chapters, altogether consisting of 85 chapters. Unit I is an introduction to physiology consisting of 3 chapters: The cell and general physiology. Unit II addresses membrane physiology, nerve, and muscle, consisting of 5 chapters. Unit VIII has 2 chapters addressing to aviation, space, and deep sea diving physiology. It has a section on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Units IX, X, and XI concern the physiology of the nervous system consisting of 17 chapters which elegantly review different aspects of the human nervous system. All topics discussed are relevant to daily practicing physician/scientist. One example is the important role of thyroid hormone on the growth and development of the brain during fetal, neonatal, and infantile periods, which needs to be emphasized and remembered because of its grave consequences resulting in cretinism.

Evaluation of Chemokine Profile in Stored Whole Blood

TL;DR: Investigation of the changes that could occur in chemokine profile in whole blood stored in CPDA-1 anticoagulant/preservative for 28 days found increase in the concentration of chemokines could probably be due to WBC degradation, which could induce pro-inflammatory response upon blood transfusion.

Predominant Factors Affecting Sexual Dysfunction on Patients with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis

TL;DR: The incidence of sexual dysfunction is high in male patients undergoing CAPD, and the most influencing metabolic factor is albumin, where patients who have albumin levels <3.5 g/dL are at risk of experiencing sexual dysfunction 9.3 times greater than patients with albuminLevel after being adjusted by age variables.

Leuconostoc mesenteroides utilizes glucose fermentation to produce electricity and ameliorates high-fat diet-induced abdominal fat mass

TL;DR: These studies suggest a novel means by which the probiotic bacteria can modulate fat mass deposition and oxidative stress via the cyclophilin A-mediated electron production and the butyric acid-activated Ffar2 pathway.
