Rapid purification of hu protein from halobacillus karajensis
Parinaz Ghadam,Rana Samadi +1 more
TL;DR: A two-step purification procedure of HU from Halobacillus karajensis allows obtaining a pure non-tagged protein and showed that the molecular weight of the purified protein was approximately 11 kDa which is immunologically similar to the Bacillus subtilis HU protein (HBsu).
Characterization of putative Porphyromonas gingivalis RNA-binding proteins
TL;DR: The chiral stationary phase for H2O2 knockout cell reprograming showed good chiral recognition ability and high levels of chiral “knockout” events were observed in the H2N2 knockout phase.

Structure, function and regulation of the DNA-binding protein Dps and its role in acid and oxidative stress resistance in Escherichia coli: a review.
L.N. Calhoun,Y.M. Kwon +1 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that Dps itself plays a role in gene regulation during starvation, ultimately making the cell more resistant to cytotoxic assaults by controlling the expression of genes necessary for (or deleterious to) stress resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Speciation of Campylobacter coli, C. jejuni, C. helveticus, C. lari, C. sputorum, and C. upsaliensis by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization--Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry
Robert E. Mandrell,Leslie A. Harden,Anna H. Bates,William G. Miller,William F. Haddon,Clifton K. Fagerquist +5 more
TL;DR: MALDI-TOF MS analysis of 75 additional Campylobacter strains isolated from humans, poultry, swine, dogs, and cats revealed associations of SIBI type with source, strains previously speciated incorrectly, and “strains” composed of more than one species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Profiling the humoral immune response in colon cancer patients: diagnostic antigens from Streptococcus bovis.
Harold Tjalsma,Marie Schöller-Guinard,Edwin Lasonder,Theo J.M. Ruers,Hans L. Willems,Dorine W. Swinkels +5 more
TL;DR: These findings corroborate the hypothesis that colonic lesions provide a specific niche for S. bovis, resulting in tumor‐associated “silent” infections, and make profiling of the humoral immune response against “ silent’ S.bovis infections a promising diagnostic tool for the early detection of human colon cancer, which is crucial for the effective treatment of this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lysine acetylation of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis HU protein modulates its DNA binding and genome organization
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the DNA binding property of MtHU is regulated by posttranslational modifications akin to eukaryotic histones, and first insights into the modulation of the nucleoid structure by lysine acetylation in bacteria are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of HU–DNA interactions by salt concentration and applied force
TL;DR: It is observed that the dissociation kinetics depend on force applied to the DNA: increased applied force in the sub-piconewton range accelerates dissociation, suggesting a mechanism for DNA tension to regulate chromosome structure and gene expression.
