TL;DR: In this article, a nomenclature for restriction endonucleases, DNA methyltransferases, homing endon nucleases and related genes and gene products is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diverse Functions of Restriction-Modification Systems in Addition to Cellular Defense
TL;DR: New developments which provide insights into the roles of these enzymes in other aspects of cellular function are dealt with, with emphasis placed on novel hypotheses and various findings that have not yet been dealt with in a critical review.
Journal ArticleDOI
High levels of catalytic antibodies correlate with favorable outcome in sepsis.
Sébastien Lacroix-Desmazes,Jagadeesh Bayry,Srini V. Kaveri,David Hayon-Sonsino,Nithyananda Thorenoor,Julien Charpentier,Charles Edouard Luyt,Jean Paul Mira,Valakunja Nagaraja,Michel D. Kazatchkine,JF Dhainaut,Vincent Mallet +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the presence in plasma of IgG endowed with serine protease-like hydrolytic activity strongly correlates with survival from sepsis, and provides the first evidence that Hydrolytic antibodies might play a role in recovery from a disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and antimycobacterial evaluation of various 7-substituted ciprofloxacin derivatives
Dharmarajan Sriram,Perumal Yogeeswari,Jafar Sadik Basha,Deshpande R. Radha,Valakunja Nagaraja +4 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated the potential and importance of developing new quinolone derivatives against mycobacterial infections and indicated that most of the compounds demonstrated better in vitro antimycob bacterial activity against M. tuberculosis than ciprofloxacin.
Journal ArticleDOI
WebGeSTer DB—a transcription terminator database
TL;DR: The database comprises of a million terminators identified in 1060 bacterial genome sequences and 798 plasmids and offers insight into the prevalence of canonical and non-canonical terminators across different phyla.
