Holocene climatic changes in the Western Mediterranean, from south-east France to south-east Spain

TLDR
In this paper, the role of anthropogenic activities and climate on the changes in vegetation cover was discussed, and the results were compared with data from marine and continental pollen sequences distributed in the western Mediterranean basin, and with additional regional data independent of human activity.

Patterns and processes of Late Quaternary environmental change in a montane region of southwestern Europe

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the Late Quaternary (c. 20,300-<505 ǫ-yr BP) environmental history of Siles, a lake situated at 1320 m in the Segura mountains of southern Spain, with the goal of establishing the mechanisms exerting control on vegetation change.

Holocene circum-Mediterranean vegetation changes: Climate forcing and human impact

TL;DR: The Mediterranean climate and its variability depend on global-scale climate patterns and the teleconnections between the climate of the Mediterranean area and the global climatic system are discussed in this article.

Contrasting patterns of hydrological changes in Europe in response to Holocene climate cooling phases.

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of these regional data with other hydrological records reconstructed in Europe for the same period suggests that mid-latitudes between ca 50° and 43° underwent wetter conditions in response to the cooling, whereas northern and southern Europe were marked by drier climate, in the latter case leading to an interruption of the sapropel 1 formation in the Mediterranean.

A Non-Parametric Approach to the Change-Point Problem

TL;DR: In this paper, nonparametric techniques are introduced for the change point problem and exact and approximate results are obtained for testing the null hypothesis of no change for zero-one observations, Binomial observations, and continuous observations.

The Genesis and Collapse of Third Millennium North Mesopotamian Civilization

TL;DR: Archaeological and soil-stratigraphic data define the origin, growth, and collapse of Subir, the third millennium rain-fed agriculture civilization of northern Mesopotamia on the Habur Plains of Syria and suggest that the impact of the abrupt climatic change was extensive.
