TLDR
In this paper, it was shown that 3T3-L1 adipocytes in obese mice exhibit increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) with lipid accumulation; the addition of free fatty acids elevates ROS generation further.About:

A Novel Drosophila Model to Investigate Adipose Tissue Macrophage Infiltration (ATM) and Obesity highlights the Therapeutic Potential of Attenuating Eiger/TNFα Signaling to Ameliorate Insulin Resistance and ATM
Zhasmine Mirzoyan,Alice Valenza,Sheri Zola,Carola Bonfanti,Lorenzo Arnaboldi,John Pollard,Maria Enrica Pasini,Paola Bellosta +7 more
TL;DR: In this article , a Drosophila model was used to investigate the mechanisms underlying macrophage infiltration and its association with obesity-related pathologies and demonstrate the therapeutic potential of attenuating Eiger/TNFα signaling to ameliorate insulin resistance and ATM.

Rhinoceros serum labile plasma iron and associated redox potential: interspecific variation, sex bias and iron overload disorder disconnect.
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors determine if labile plasma iron (LPI) is an accurate IOD biomarker and identify factors associated with iron-independent serum oxidative reduction potential (ORP).

Dual Beneficial Effects of Methylnissolin-3-O-β-d-Glucopyranoside on Obesity-Induced Inflammatory Responses in Adipocyte-Macrophage Co-Culture
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that MNG inhibited lipid accumulation and inflammatory response by downregulating IL-6 and MCP-1 production and protein expression of C/EBPβ, C/ EBPα, PPARγ, COX-2, and iNOS in co-culture conditions with 3T3-L1 and RAW264.7 cells, suggesting that M NG may be beneficial in preventing obesity-related inflammatory status.

Body Mass Index and Age-Related Changes of ROS Production and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Healthy Subjects
TL;DR: It was shown that oxidative stress biomarkers were elevated in obese subjects and old age was associated with increases in oxidative stress markers and decreases in TAC.

Definition, diagnosis and classification of diabetes mellitus and its complications. Part 1: diagnosis and classification of diabetes mellitus provisional report of a WHO consultation.
K. G. M. M. Alberti,Paul Zimmet +1 more
TL;DR: A WHO Consultation has taken place in parallel with a report by an American Diabetes Association Expert Committee to re‐examine diagnostic criteria and classification of diabetes mellitus and is hoped that the new classification will allow better classification of individuals and lead to fewer therapeutic misjudgements.

Obesity is associated with macrophage accumulation in adipose tissue
Stuart P. Weisberg,Daniel McCann,Manisha Desai,Michael Rosenbaum,Rudolph L. Leibel,Anthony W. Ferrante +5 more
TL;DR: Transcript expression in perigonadal adipose tissue from groups of mice in which adiposity varied due to sex, diet, and the obesity-related mutations agouti (Ay) and obese (Lepob) found that the expression of 1,304 transcripts correlated significantly with body mass.

Biochemistry and molecular cell biology of diabetic complications
TL;DR: This integrating paradigm provides a new conceptual framework for future research and drug discovery in diabetes-specific microvascular disease and seems to reflect a single hyperglycaemia-induced process of overproduction of superoxide by the mitochondrial electron-transport chain.
