Variation for 29 enzymes of liver or brain.

TL;DR: Automated methods for optimal rapid quantitation of the levels of 29 enzymes in the liver and brain of C57BL 6J mice using a miniature fast analyzer (MFA) are described and are presently being incorporated into a mutagenesis test system to detect chemically induced mutations expressed as altered enzyme activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-selection of dietary casein and soy-protein by the cat.

TL;DR: Except for their avoidance of casein, the kittens did not regulate in a consistent manner their intake of protein and therefore, behaved very differently from the rat in the self-selection of dietary protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of dietary protein in hepatic lipogenesis in the young rat.

TL;DR: It is suggested that when rats consume low-protein diets the NADPH needed for fatty acid synthesis is generated primarily by ME but that as the level of dietary protein is increased the contribution of ME is reduced while that of the phosphogluconate pathway becomes more important.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of choline and inositol on hepatic lipid metabolism and the incidence of the fatty liver and kidney syndrome in broilers.

TL;DR: The wheat-based diet did not significantly affect the activities of hepatic lipogenic enzymes suggesting that hepatic lipid biosynthesis is not a cause of the syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assay for mouse tissue enzymes: Levels of activity and statistical variation for 29 enzymes of liver or brain

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a miniature fast analyzer (MFA) to obtain the highest activity with the lowest coefficient of variation for 29 selected enzymes while maintaining linearity with protein concentration and time.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

A simple method for the isolation and purification of total lipides from animal tissues.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors described a simplified version of the method and reported the results of a study of its application to different tissues, including the efficiency of the washing procedure in terms of the removal from tissue lipides of some non-lipide substances of special biochemical interest.
