TLDR
In this article, the response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory, and finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region.Abstract:
The response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory. Finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region. Results for material properties typical of a high modulus graphite-epoxy composite material system are presented which explain the mechanism of shear transfer within a symmetric laminate. In addition, results of this work are compared to those given in a recent approximate formulation.read more

Studies of geometry effects on strain-energy release rate of composite laminate
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of thickness on the energy release rate of composite laminates under uniaxial tension was investigated. But the results calculated by the rule of mixtures can be more properly correlated with the strain energy release rates.

Fragmentation of shells: an analogy with the crack formation in tree bark
TL;DR: The well-accepted explanation is Mott's theory as mentioned in this paper, which considers the fragmentation of shells as a random process controlled by defect control, and it has been shown that a shell can explode into a series of fragments upon impact.

Improved composite open-hole compression strength and trade-off with manufacturability controlled by stacking sequence effect and non-standard ply angles
TL;DR: In this article, the open-hole compression strength and forming compatibility of laminates designed with standard angle (SA) and non-standard ply angle (NSA) layups using four different stacking sequence patterns were investigated.

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of interlaminar shear stresses is performed for a laminate under generalized plane stresses, where the laminate is modeled as a set of anisotropic layers separated by isotropic adhesive layers.
