Interlaminar Stresses in Composite Laminates Under Uniform Axial Extension
R. Byron Pipes,N. J. Pagano +1 more
TLDR
In this article, the response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory, and finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region.Abstract:
The response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory. Finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region. Results for material properties typical of a high modulus graphite-epoxy composite material system are presented which explain the mechanism of shear transfer within a symmetric laminate. In addition, results of this work are compared to those given in a recent approximate formulation.read more

Interlaminar stress fields in circular cylindrical cross-ply laminated shells subjected to transverse loadings
TL;DR: In this paper, a semi-analytical approach for the analysis of the three-dimensional stress fields in cylindrically curved cross-ply laminated shells subjected to different transverse loadings under consideration of the free-edge effect is presented.
Fatigue of cord-rubber composites for tires
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that interply shear strain is one of the crucial parameters for damage assessment from the result that higher levels of interply strain of actual tires reduce the fatigue lifetime.

Failure Analysis of Thick Composite Flexural Plates Constrained by Bolt Joints
TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model is introduced to perform stress and failure analysis for a simplified model of the yoke, which consists of a thick composite laminate subjected to flexural bending moment and bolt joint connections.

Measurements of interlaminar deformation in the composite laminates
TL;DR: In this paper, the displacement distribution of 56-ply composite laminates under three-point bending was analyzed by using the traditional moire interferometry method and natural image processing technique based on wavelet transform at the same time.
