Interlaminar Stresses in Composite Laminates Under Uniform Axial Extension

TLDR
In this article, the response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory, and finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region.
Abstract
The response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory. Finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region. Results for material properties typical of a high modulus graphite-epoxy composite material system are presented which explain the mechanism of shear transfer within a symmetric laminate. In addition, results of this work are compared to those given in a recent approximate formulation.

Behaviour of low porosity microcracked thermal barrier coatings under thermal loading

TL;DR: A submitted manuscript is the author's version of the article upon submission and before peer-review as discussed by the authors, and the final published version features the final layout of the paper including the volume, issue and page numbers.

The discrimination of micro-fracture mode of fibrous composite material by acoustic emission technique

TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude intensity of the acoustic emission of the micro-fracture can be used to identify the fracture modes, and a signature of each failure mode can then be used in non-destructive testing.

Analytical approach à la Newmark for curved laminated glass

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of curvature on the shear coupling of glass plies through the interlayer is examined in the paradigmatic example of a laminated beam with constant moderate curvature under radial loading with different boundary conditions, varying the initial camber, the end constraints and the elastic properties of the polymer.

Free-edge stress fields in generic laminated composites via higher-order kinematics

TL;DR: In this article, the Lagrange expansion (LE) is used to model the free-edge effects in generic laminated composites with arbitrary geometries, and the finite element method is employed to solve the problem along the laminate's length, thus enabling the user to introduce arbitrary boundary conditions.

Interlaminar Shear in Laminated Composites Under Generalized Plane Stress

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of interlaminar shear stresses is performed for a laminate under generalized plane stresses, where the laminate is modeled as a set of anisotropic layers separated by isotropic adhesive layers.
