Interlaminar Stresses in Composite Laminates Under Uniform Axial Extension

TLDR
In this article, the response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory, and finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region.
Abstract
The response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory. Finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region. Results for material properties typical of a high modulus graphite-epoxy composite material system are presented which explain the mechanism of shear transfer within a symmetric laminate. In addition, results of this work are compared to those given in a recent approximate formulation.

Thermoelastic edge effects and warping of cross-reinforced composite plates

TL;DR: In this article, an analytic solution has been obtained for the warping and edge effects in a plate with structure ±ϕ, in a homogeneous temperature field, and it was found that for the parameters typical of glass-reinforced plastics as the number of layers increases the influence of the nonsymmetry of the structure becomes less perceptible.

Calculation of Interlaminar Stresses in Composite Laminates by a New Method

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method is used to calculate interlaminar stresses and edge effects in composite laminates, and the edge effects are calculated using a weighted average of the interlaminar stresses and edges.

Analytical Stress Analysis of Rotating Composite Beams Due to Material Discontinuities

TL;DR: In this article, a layerwise laminated beam theory is developed and it is used to analyze analytically the interlaminar stresses at material discontinuities in rotating composite beams.

Optimization of composite laminates with free edges under extension load and thermal load

TL;DR: In this paper, a single-objective and multiobjective optimization of composite laminates with free-edge boundaries is presented. And the results show the effect of geometric conditions of free edges as well as the type of loading (mechanical and thermal) on the optimization of composites.

Interlaminar Shear in Laminated Composites Under Generalized Plane Stress

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of interlaminar shear stresses is performed for a laminate under generalized plane stresses, where the laminate is modeled as a set of anisotropic layers separated by isotropic adhesive layers.
