TLDR
In this article, the response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory, and finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region.Abstract:
The response of a finite-width composite laminate under uniform axial strain is treated through the application of classical elasticity theory. Finite-difference solution techniques are employed to obtain solutions for stresses and displacements throughout the region. Results for material properties typical of a high modulus graphite-epoxy composite material system are presented which explain the mechanism of shear transfer within a symmetric laminate. In addition, results of this work are compared to those given in a recent approximate formulation.read more

Shear coupling effects of the core in curved sandwich beams
TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical linear elastic model is proposed for Euler-Bernoulli composite beams with arbitrary variable curvature. But this model does not consider the effect of curvature on the gross response of the composite structure.

J.K. Chen,C.T. Sun +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a quasi-three-dimensional yield function for graphite/epoxy composites was proposed to predict elastic-plastic interlaminar stress response near a free edge in the [90/0]s, [0/90]s and [ 45 −45 ]s laminates with and without delamination cracks.

A closed-form solution for stresses at curved free edges in composite laminates: A variational approach
TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical method developed for determining the interlaminar stresses at straight free boundaries is extended to predict the free-edge stresses at curved boundaries of symmetric composite laminates under inplane loading.

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of interlaminar shear stresses is performed for a laminate under generalized plane stresses, where the laminate is modeled as a set of anisotropic layers separated by isotropic adhesive layers.
