Investigation of Ti-Fe-Co bulk alloys with high strength and enhanced ductility
TLDR
In this article, the structure of the Ti-Fe-Co alloys (at Fe/Co ratio > 1) studied by X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy consisted of an ordered Pm 3 ¯ m Ti(FeCo) compound and a disordered body-centered cubic Im 3¯ m β-Ti solid solution.About:

High-strength Ti-base ultrafine eutectic with enhanced ductility
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed that the change in the morphology of the eutectic and the distribution of the FeTi phase are the origin of the improvement of the mechanical properties.

Bimodal titanium alloys with ultrafine lamellar eutectic structure fabricated by semi-solid sintering
C. Yang,L. M. Kang,Xinxin Li,W. W. Zhang,D. T. Zhang,Zhiqiang Fu,Zhiqiang Fu,Yat Li,Lai-Chang Zhang,Enrique J. Lavernia +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a bimodal microstructure is attained via selection of phases and composition in a eutectic reaction followed by semi-solid sintering.

Nanostructure–dendrite composites in the Fe–Zr binary alloy system exhibiting high strength and plasticity
TL;DR: In this paper, the composites composed of microscaled dendritic phases (Fe2Zr or α-Fe) and nanoscaled lamellar eutectic matrix (Fe 2Zr+α-Fe + ε-Fe ) were synthesized in the Fe-Zr binary eutectoric system, exhibiting a better combination of strength and plasticity than bulk metallic glass or nanograined materials.

Bulk Glass-Forming Metallic Alloys: Science and Technology
TL;DR: The MRS Medal was presented by William L. Johnson at the 1998 MRS Fall Meeting on December 2, 1998 as discussed by the authors, where Johnson received the honor for his development of bulk metallic glass-forming alloys, and the fundamental understanding of the thermodynamics and kinetics that control glass formation and crystallization of glassforming liquids.

Microstructure controlled shear band pattern formation and enhanced plasticity of bulk metallic glasses containing in situ formed ductile phase dendrite dispersions
TL;DR: Under unconstrained mechanical loading organized shear band patterns develop throughout the sample, which results in a dramatic increase in the plastic strain to failure, impact resistance, and toughness of the metallic glass.
