TLDR
In this paper, the authors presented a new methodology to measure the crack resistance curves associated with fiberdominated failure modes in polymer-matrix composites, which is based on the identification of the crack tip location using Digital Image Correlation and the calculation of the J-integral directly from the test data using a simple expression derived for cross-ply composite laminates.

Prediction Of Progressive Damage And Failure Analysis Of Rotorcraft Composite Nose Cowling By Continuum Damage Mechanics Model

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a continuum damage mechanics model for the prediction of progressive damage which accumulates in sandwich laminates with polymeric matrix materials, where failure mechanisms occurring in the longitudinal and transverse directions of a ply are represented by a set of scalar damage variables.

Experimental Investigation of Double-Sided Strain of Composites in Tensile Testing Using MultiCamera DIC

TL;DR: In this article , a multicamera digital image correlation (DIC) system was employed to measure the double-sided strain in a composite sheet sample, and two sets of 3D-DIC systems were placed in front of and behind the specimen to record the tensile process of the specimen, and a doublesided calibration technique was implemented to connect the two sets OFIC systems into a unified coordinate system, where the results showed that the strain on both sides of the composite is not exactly same, especially in the strain concentration area.

Cohesive Laws for Analyzing Through-Crack Propagation in Cross Ply Laminates

TL;DR: The laminate cohesive approach (LCA) is a methodology for the experimental characterization of cohesive through-the-thickness damage propagation in fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites as mentioned in this paper.
