The complete genome of Propionibacterium freudenreichii CIRM 1 a hardy actinobacteria with food and probiotic applications

TL;DR: The annotation revealed the genetic basis for the hardiness of P. freudenreichii, as the bacterium possesses a complete enzymatic arsenal for de novo biosynthesis of aminoacids and vitamins as well as sequences involved in metabolism of various carbon sources, immunity against phages, duplicated chaperone genes and, interestingly, genes involved in the management of polyphosphate, glycogen and trehalose storage.

Antimicrobial Resistance in Veterinary Medicine: An Overview.

TL;DR: The main sources of AMR amenable to veterinary medicine are described, driving the attention towards the indissoluble cross-talk existing between the diverse ecosystems and sectors and their cumulative cooperation to this warning phenomenon.

The microbiota of dairy milk: A review

TL;DR: Critically review metataxonomic and metagenomic studies on milk from cows and other dairy species, and discuss potential sources and dynamics of microbiota during storage, transport and processing in liquid pasteurised milk, using the FoodMicrobionet database to carry out meta-analyses.

Progress in Alternative Strategies to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance: Focus on Antibiotics

TL;DR: In this article , the authors present a review of the strategies that are being applied or proposed as potential alternatives to traditional antibiotics, including combination therapy, techniques that target the enzymes or proteins responsible for antimicrobial resistance, resistant bacteria, drug delivery systems, physicochemical methods and unconventional techniques, including the CRISPR-Cas system.

Metaproteomics insights into traditional fermented foods and beverages.

TL;DR: This paper systematically summarizes the results of metaproteomics research on TFFB, such as sauces, wines, fermented tea, cheese, and fermented fish, and compares the differences in conclusions reached through metAProteomics versus other omics methods.

The complex microbiota of raw milk

TL;DR: There is concern that the presence of antibiotic residues in milk leads to the development of resistance, particularly among pathogenic bacteria, and the approaches, both culture-dependent and culture-independent, which can be taken to investigate the microbial composition of milk are compared.
