TLDR
An ideal text for an upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate course, Nonparametric Statistical Methods, Second Edition is also an invaluable source for professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest developments within this dynamic branch of modern statistics.Abstract:
This Second Edition of Myles Hollander and Douglas A. Wolfe's successful Nonparametric Statistical Methods meets the needs of a new generation of users, with completely up-to-date coverage of this important statistical area. Like its predecessor, the revised edition, along with its companion ftp site, aims to equip readers with the conceptual and technical skills necessary to select and apply the appropriate procedures for a given situation. An extensive array of examples drawn from actual experiments illustrates clearly how to use nonparametric approaches to handle one- or two-sample location and dispersion problems, dichotomous data, and one-way and two-way layout problems. An ideal text for an upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate course, Nonparametric Statistical Methods, Second Edition is also an invaluable source for professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest developments within this dynamic branch of modern statistics.read more

Exact p -values for pairwise comparison of Friedman rank sums, with application to comparing classifiers
TL;DR: An efficient, combinatorial exact approach for calculating the probability mass distribution of the rank sum difference statistic for pairwise comparison of Friedman rank sums, and compare exact results with recommended asymptotic approximations is proposed.

N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea treatment of multiple intestinal neoplasia (Min) mice: age-related effects on the formation of intestinal adenomas, cystic crypts, and epidermoid cysts.
TL;DR: It is suggested that the majority of intestinal tumors in Min/+ mice are initiated relatively early in life, and the relationship between age at ENU treatment and cystic crypt multiplicity was distinct from that seen for intestinal adenomas.

1-Pyrenol: A Biomarker for Occupational Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
William P. Tolos,Peter B. Shaw,Larry K. Lowry,Barbara A. MacKenzie,Jou-Fang Deng,Harry L. Markel +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a biological monitoring method using the major urinary metabolite of pyrene, 1-pyrenol, has been successfully used to assess the exposure of aluminum reduction plant workers to coal tar pitch-derived polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of sample moisture content on XRD-estimated cellulose crystallinity index and crystallite size
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of sample moisture on the performance of X-ray diffraction measurements of cellulose materials has been investigated, and it is concluded that for most cellulose material with Segal CrI < 90% the moisture content has a significant bearing on the XRD-estimated CrI and L200 data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size-selective predation of sailfin mollies by two species of heron
TL;DR: Selective predation by wading birds is likely to contribute to patterns of size variation among some populations of sailfin mollies but not to the patterns of female-skewed sex ratios in adults.
