TLDR
An ideal text for an upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate course, Nonparametric Statistical Methods, Second Edition is also an invaluable source for professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest developments within this dynamic branch of modern statistics.Abstract:
This Second Edition of Myles Hollander and Douglas A. Wolfe's successful Nonparametric Statistical Methods meets the needs of a new generation of users, with completely up-to-date coverage of this important statistical area. Like its predecessor, the revised edition, along with its companion ftp site, aims to equip readers with the conceptual and technical skills necessary to select and apply the appropriate procedures for a given situation. An extensive array of examples drawn from actual experiments illustrates clearly how to use nonparametric approaches to handle one- or two-sample location and dispersion problems, dichotomous data, and one-way and two-way layout problems. An ideal text for an upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate course, Nonparametric Statistical Methods, Second Edition is also an invaluable source for professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest developments within this dynamic branch of modern statistics.read more

Individual-level analysis of differential expression of genes and pathways for personalized medicine
Hongwei Wang,Qiang Sun,Wenyuan Zhao,Lishuang Qi,Yunyan Gu,Pengfei Li,Mengmeng Zhang,Yang Li,Shu-Lin Liu,Zheng Guo +9 more
TL;DR: A method to detect DE genes in individual disease samples by using the disrupted ordering inindividual disease samples showed excellent performance and was found to be insensitive to experimental batch effects and data normalization.

Distance‐responsive natural enemies strongly influence seedling establishment patterns of multiple species in an Amazonian rain forest
Varun Swamy,John Terborgh +1 more
TL;DR: This study provides strong, multi-species support for the influence of host-specific distance-responsive natural enemies on seedling establishment, and suggests that negative density-dependent patterns of tree recruitment in tropical rain forests are at least partly produced at early life stages as an outcome of processes described by the classic Janzen–Connell model.

Decreased Pulmonary Radiation Resistance of Manganese Superoxide Dismutase (MnSOD)-Deficient Mice is Corrected by Human Manganese Superoxide Dismutase-Plasmid/Liposome (SOD2-PL) Intratracheal Gene Therapy
TL;DR: Underexpression of MnSOD in the lungs of heterozygous Sod2+/– knockout mice is associated with increased pulmonary radiation sensitivity and parallels increased radiation sensitivity of embryo fibroblast cell lines in vitro, suggesting a potential role for SOD2-PL gene therapy in organ-specific radioprotection.

Variation in development patterns of larval anurans in temporary ponds. i. persistent variation within a hyla gratiosa population.
TL;DR: Although growth rate and development time can influence larval survival, body size at metamorphosis can influence survivorship and reproductive potential in the adult stage, and both effects will play a role in determining the overall level of genetic variability in these populations.

Returns to scale and damages to scale under natural and managerial disposability: Strategy, efficiency and competitiveness of petroleum firms
Toshiyuki Sueyoshi,Mika Goto +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed two types of output unification for DEA environmental assessment by using a non-radial model, i.e., an increase in an input vector but a decrease in the vector of undesirable outputs.
