Experimental results clearly indicate that this metric reflects the quality of visual information obtained from the fusion of input images and can be used to compare the performance of different image fusion algorithms.
Abstract
A measure for objectively assessing the pixel level fusion performance is defined. The proposed metric reflects the quality of visual information obtained from the fusion of input images and can be used to compare the performance of different image fusion algorithms. Experimental results clearly indicate that this metric is perceptually meaningful.

Log-Gabor energy based multimodal medical image fusion in NSCT domain.

TL;DR: A novel nonsubsampled Contourlet transform (NSCT) based method for multimodal medical image fusion is presented, which is approximately shift invariant and can effectively suppress the pseudo-Gibbs phenomena.

Theoretical analysis of an information-based quality measure for image fusion

TL;DR: The results show the quality measure studied does not generally properly characterize increases in the distortion of the images which are input into a weighted averaging fusion algorithm.

A novel approach based on Three-scale image decomposition and Marine predators algorithm for multi-modal medical image fusion

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach is introduced to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, and it includes the following main steps: Firstly, the three-scale decomposition (TSD) technique was introduced to obtain the base and detail components, and a rule base on local energy function using the Kirsch compass operator was applied to fusing detail layers, which helps the output image preserve important information.

A novel approach to quantitative evaluation of hyperspectral image fusion techniques

TL;DR: This paper suggests that the fusion techniques should satisfy the consistency criterion under appropriate measures that evaluate the fusion performance, and proposes several modifications for a number of existing measures that can quantify the progression of fusion operation efficiently for the fusion of a large number of image bands.

Nonsubsampled rotated complex wavelet transform (NSRCxWT) for medical image fusion related to clinical aspects in neurocysticercosis

TL;DR: This paper presents a novel approach to Multimodality Medical Image Fusion (MMIF) used for the analysis of the lesions for the diagnostic purpose and post treatment review of NCC and shows promising and superior results when compared with the state of the art wavelet based fusion algorithms.

Multisensor image fusion using the wavelet transform

TL;DR: In this article, an image fusion scheme based on the wavelet transform is presented, where wavelet transforms of the input images are appropriately combined, and the new image is obtained by taking the inverse wavelet transformation of the fused wavelet coefficients.

Cross-band pixel selection in multiresolution image fusion

TL;DR: Preliminary subjective image fusion results demonstrate clearly the advantage which the proposed cross-band selection technique offers, when compared to conventional area based pixel selection.
