Biocompatible locust bean gum mesoporous matrices prepared by ionic liquids and a scCO2 sustainable system

TL;DR: In this article, three methylimidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) were used as alternative media in the preparation of biocompatible Locust bean gum (LBG) gel matrices.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Phenomenological Approach to Study Mechanical Properties of Polymeric Porous Structures Processed Using Supercritical CO

TL;DR: The results indicate that materials processed using scCO2, when submitted to large stresses, do not obey Hooke´s law and must be considered as hyperelastic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction of divalent cations with carboxylate group in TEMPO-oxidized microfibrillated cellulose systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the electrostatic interaction of the anionic pulp fibers and the fibrils with Ca2+ and Mg2+ would promote internal bonding of the fiber-fibril network that would then reflect positively on the film properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of alternan versus chitosan on the biological properties of human mesenchymal stem cells

TL;DR: It is found that alternan and chitosan activates the toll-like receptor (TLR) pathway suggesting that these cells may be prone to differentiation, and these novel roles of alternan may have important beneficial medical applications and may provide a basis from which stem cell therapies can be developed in the future.

Biological interactions between polysaccharides and divalent cations: The egg‐box model

TL;DR: It is shown that spedfic binding of divalent cations to a polysaechafide polyelectro]ym, leading firm cohesion between the chains, can cause characteristic effects in the c~rcutar diehroism spectrum which are understandabb in terms of modem theo~, [ l ].
