Protective effects of morin against acrylamide-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity: A multi-biomarker approach.

TLDR
Morin treatment attenuated the ACR-induced hepatorenal tissue injury by diminishing the serum AST, ALP, ALT, urea and creatinine levels and affected the protein levels by regulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and thus alleviated ACr-induced apoptosis and autophagy.

Quercetin provides protection against the peripheral nerve damage caused by vincristine in rats by suppressing caspase 3, NF-κB, ATF-6 pathways and activating Nrf2, Akt pathways.

TL;DR: Quercetin was determined to relieve oxidative stress, oxidative DNA damage, neuronal cell damage, inflammation, ER stress, and apoptosis caused by vincristine and enable Akt activation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lycopene protects against central and peripheral neuropathy by inhibiting oxaliplatin-induced ATF-6 pathway, apoptosis, inflammation and oxidative stress in brains and sciatic tissues of rats

TL;DR: Lycopene can be beneficial in ameliorating OXL-induced central and peripheral nerve injuries by showing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties in the brain and sciatic tissue.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silymarin alleviates docetaxel-induced central and peripheral neurotoxicity by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis in rats.

TL;DR: The results show that silymarin can protect DTX-induced brain and sciatic nerve injuries by enhancing the antioxidant defense system and suppressing apoptosis and inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Morin attenuates acrylamide-induced testicular toxicity in rats by regulating the NF-κB, Bax/Bcl-2 and PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathways.

TL;DR: Treatment with morin could significantly decrease MDA level and considerably increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes and GSH level in the testicular tissue of the AC-treated rats, showing the possible protective mechanism of morin, a potential therapeutic agent for AC-induced testicular toxicity.

Morin hydrate: A comprehensive review on novel natural dietary bioactive compound with versatile biological and pharmacological potential.

TL;DR: Morin hydrate is a bio-flavonoid mainly obtained from fruits, stem, and leaves of Moraceae family members' plants as discussed by the authors, which exhibits its pharmacological activities by modulating various cellular signaling pathways such as Nuclear factor kappa-light-chainenhancer of activated B cells (NF-қB), Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), Janus kinases/ Signal transducer and activator of transcription proteins (JAKs/STATs), Kelch-like ECH-associated protein1/Nuclear eryth

Glutathione peroxidase activity in selenium-deficient rat liver☆

TL;DR: Two peaks of glutathione peroxidase activity were present in the Sephadex G-150 gel filtration chromatogram of rat liver supernatant when 1.5 mM cumene hydroperoxide was used as substrate, and the second peak represents a second glutathienase activity which catalyzes the destruction of organic hydroperoxides but has little activity toward H 2 O 2 and which persists in severe selenium deficiency.

Estimation of product of lipid peroxidation (malonyl dialdehyde) in biochemical systems.

TL;DR: Alkaline pyridine-butanol mixture dissolves both proteins and lipids that are precipitated or opalescent during the reaction, yielding a more accurate MDA estimation as well as simplifying the procedure.
