TLDR

An Attempt at the Identification of the Proteins Involved in the Incorporation of 5‐S RNA during 50‐S Ribosomal Subunit Assembly

TL;DR: A simple and specific system in vitro which reflects some of the intricacies of the Escherichia coli 50-S subunit is developed and the formation of a stable complex which contains 5-S RNA and 23-S RNAs and which is dependent upon only two or three ribosomal proteins.

Separation of EDTA-extractable erythrocyte membrane proteins by isoelectric focussing linked to electrophoresis in sodium dodecyl sulfate

TL;DR: The separation techniques presented here provide greater resolution than hitherto attained and should prove useful for the detailed analysis and characterisation of membrane proteins.

Eukaryotic ribosomal proteins. Two-dimensional electrophoretic studies.

TL;DR: Evidence is reported below which indicates, as expected, that ribosomes from two species differ in some of their protein components, but unexpectedly, some differences are also found in two different organs in the same species.

Preparative zone electrophoresis of proteins on polyacrylamide gels in 8 M urea.

TL;DR: The design and operation of an apparatus for preparative electrophoretic resolution of proteins is described and it is anticipated that the method will be particularly useful for purification of macromolecules soluble in urea or nonionic detergents, but not in the usual aqueous buffers.

Preparative methods for disk electrophoresis with special reference to the isolation of pituitary hormones.

TL;DR: The design and use of several devices which can be used for the isolation of proteins by the disk electrophoretic technique are described, including means of accurately and reproducibly sectioning columns of polyacrylamide, and a preparative device for collecting protein components as they emerge from the end of an electrophic column.
