Adverse effects of local anesthetic infiltration on wound healing.
TL;DR: Wound infiltration with local anesthetic can provide excellent analgesia under at least some circumstances, although optimal dose and wound instillation technique are not well defined, and there is a substantial body of literature suggesting that LA infiltration can have deleterious effects on wound healing.
Dissertation
Keloids and hypertrophic scars: treatment with intralesional interferon gamma versus triamcinolone acetonide
TL;DR: A prospective randomized triple blind active controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of cytokines in the treatment of keloids and hypertrophic scars found intralesional Interferon Gamma is more efficacious than Triamcinolone Acetonide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of gestational gigantomastia.
TL;DR: Gigantomastia of pregnancy is a rare, severely debilitating condition characterized by massive enlargement of breasts and resulting in tissue necrosis, ulceration, infection, and, occasionally, hemorrhage, which requires surgical intervention if the patient and/or fetus are experiencing significant morbidity.
Journal Article
Gastric cancer: diagnosis and treatment options
TL;DR: Primary prevention, by control of modifiable risk factors and increased surveillance of persons at increased risk, is important in decreasing morbidity and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin B12 Deficiency After Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer: An Analysis of Clinical Patterns and Risk Factors
Yanfeng Hu,Yanfeng Hu,Hyoung Il Kim,Woo Jin Hyung,Kijun Song,Joong Ho Lee,Yoo Min Kim,Sung Hoon Noh +7 more
TL;DR: Vitamin B12 deficiency is an inevitable and rather early metabolic sequela after TG, and Elderly patients with low preoperative vitamin B12 levels are more likely to experience vitamin B 12 deficiency after DG.

Frequency of abdominal wall hernias: is classical teaching out of date?
TL;DR: The epidemiology of hernia repair (retrospective review) over 30 years is investigated to determine whether the relative frequencies of hernias are evolving and contrasts with hernia incidence figures quoted in common reference books.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Pancreas
TL;DR: Although tumor origin and molecular pathogenesis remain poorly understood, recently established grading and staging systems facilitate patient risk stratification, and thereby directly impact clinical decision making, surgery remains the only curative treatment for early-stage disease.
Journal Article
Pancreatic cancer: diagnosis and management.
Robert Freelove,Anne D. Walling +1 more
TL;DR: Patients with pancreatic cancer present with obstructive jaundice caused by compression of the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, which is a leading cause of cancer deaths in this country.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of malignant pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma with cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine: recommendation from a 22-year follow-up of 18 patients.
Hui Huang,Jame Abraham,Elizabeth Hung,Steven D. Averbuch,Maria J. Merino,Seth M. Steinberg,Karel Pacak,Tito Fojo +7 more
TL;DR: A long‐term follow‐up was conducted of 18 patients with a diagnosis of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma treated with a combination of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine (CVD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Inflammatory mechanisms contributing to pancreatic cancer development.
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that similar inflammatory components and downstream effectors are present in CP and pancreatic cancers, and suggest that a common pathway for pancreatic cancer development may be through a chronic inflammatory process including stroma formation.
