Cervical bronchogenic cysts: case report and review of the literature.
Jameson K. Mattingly,Jameson K. Mattingly,Jill M. Arganbright,Jill M. Arganbright,Mark A. Lovell,Mark A. Lovell,Kenny H. Chan,Kenny H. Chan +7 more
TL;DR: A 3-year-old girl with a midline anterior neck mass found to have histopathologic findings consistent with a bronchogenic cyst is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detailed and applied anatomy for improved rectal cancer treatment.
Τaxiarchis Κonstantinos Νikolouzakis,Theodoros Mariolis-Sapsakos,Chariklia Triantopoulou,Eelco De Bree,Evaghelos Xynos,Emmanuel Chrysos,John Tsiaoussis +6 more
TL;DR: This review attempts to gather current knowledge regarding the detailed anatomy of the rectum and to organize and present it in a manner that focuses on its clinical implications, not only for the colorectal surgeon, but most importantly for all coloreCTal cancer-related specialties.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of prophylactic cefazolin in the prevention of infection after various types of abdominal wall hernia repair with mesh.
Mostafa Mehrabi Bahar,Azadeh Jabbari Nooghabi,Mehdi Jabbari Nooghabi,Mehdi Jabbari Nooghabi,Ali Jangjoo +4 more
TL;DR: The results do not support the use of cefazolin as a prophylactic antibiotic for various kinds of abdominal wall hernia repair with mesh and preoperative administration of single-dose cefrazolin for prosthetic hernia repairs did not markedly decrease the risk of wound infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Osteoprotegerin activates osteosarcoma cells that co-express RANK and RANKL
TL;DR: Preliminary evidence for a potential autocrine and or paracrine activation pathway in canine OS is provided and an activating effect of exogenous OPG on signal transduction proteins, NFκB and proliferation in OS is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lymph Node Positivity in Appendiceal Adenocarcinoma: Should Size Matter?
John V. Gahagan,Matthew D. Whealon,Michael J. Phelan,Steven Mills,Alessio Pigazzi,Michael J. Stamos,Ninh T. Nguyen,Joseph C. Carmichael +7 more
TL;DR: In appendiceal adenocarcinoma, the rate of lymph node metastases is substantial, even for small tumors, and Tumor size should play no role in the decision of whether to perform a hemicolectomy.

Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency of abdominal wall hernias: is classical teaching out of date?
TL;DR: The epidemiology of hernia repair (retrospective review) over 30 years is investigated to determine whether the relative frequencies of hernias are evolving and contrasts with hernia incidence figures quoted in common reference books.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Pancreas
TL;DR: Although tumor origin and molecular pathogenesis remain poorly understood, recently established grading and staging systems facilitate patient risk stratification, and thereby directly impact clinical decision making, surgery remains the only curative treatment for early-stage disease.
Journal Article
Pancreatic cancer: diagnosis and management.
Robert Freelove,Anne D. Walling +1 more
TL;DR: Patients with pancreatic cancer present with obstructive jaundice caused by compression of the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, which is a leading cause of cancer deaths in this country.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of malignant pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma with cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine: recommendation from a 22-year follow-up of 18 patients.
Hui Huang,Jame Abraham,Elizabeth Hung,Steven D. Averbuch,Maria J. Merino,Seth M. Steinberg,Karel Pacak,Tito Fojo +7 more
TL;DR: A long‐term follow‐up was conducted of 18 patients with a diagnosis of pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma treated with a combination of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine (CVD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Inflammatory mechanisms contributing to pancreatic cancer development.
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that similar inflammatory components and downstream effectors are present in CP and pancreatic cancers, and suggest that a common pathway for pancreatic cancer development may be through a chronic inflammatory process including stroma formation.
