Sample size and optimal designs for reliability studies

A method is developed to calculate the required number of subjects k in a reliability study, where reliability is measured using the intraclass correlation rho. The method is based on a functional approximation to earlier exact results. The approximation is shown to have excellent agreement with the exact results and one can use it easily without intensive numerical computation. Optimal design configurations are also discussed; for reliability values of about 40 per cent or higher, use of two or three observations per subject will minimize the total number of observations required.read more

Validation of a Questionnaire for Assessing Adherence to Metered-Dose Inhaler Use in Asthmatic Children
TL;DR: Clinicians would benefit from having a validated questionnaire to assess adherence to metered-dose inhaler use in children with asthma.
The reliability of measuring instruments
TL;DR: The main purpose of the Edgeworth series is to provide a free resource for educational and research purposes as discussed by the authors, and the main purpose is to pursue those statistical features of measuring instruments that tell you whether or not, or to what extent, such instruments are consistent.

TL;DR: The translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of the Involvement Evaluation Questionnaire-European Union into the Greek language is reported on, finding that the G-IEQ-EU is a reasonably valid and reliable tool for use in both clinical and research contexts.

Sudden Gains in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders
TL;DR: Tang et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the frequency, pattern, and predictors of sudden gains during CBT for eating disorders, defined as stable and clinically significant symptom reductions occurring between two sessions of treatment.

TL;DR: Comparison of RetCam 120 pediatric optic nerve head photographs, when performed subjectively by observers with different perspectives, and in isolation from clinical information, may not be a reliable indicator of cupping change.
