Sample size and optimal designs for reliability studies

Abstract
A method is developed to calculate the required number of subjects k in a reliability study, where reliability is measured using the intraclass correlation rho. The method is based on a functional approximation to earlier exact results. The approximation is shown to have excellent agreement with the exact results and one can use it easily without intensive numerical computation. Optimal design configurations are also discussed; for reliability values of about 40 per cent or higher, use of two or three observations per subject will minimize the total number of observations required.

Reliability of a novel neurostimulation method to study involuntary muscle phenomena

TL;DR: The absence of pain due to the stimulation and the demonstration of TF reliability support the use of the method for the study of involuntary muscle phenomena.

The effect of transcranial magnetic stimulation test intensity on the amplitude, variability and reliability of motor evoked potentials.

TL;DR: Reduced variability and increased reliability at higher TMS test intensities validate the use of higher T MS test intensity to assess changes in CSE in future research and increase accuracy in capturing true changes inCSE.

The Reliability and Predictive Validity of the Stalking Risk Profile.

TL;DR: Assessment of the reliability and validity of the Stalking Risk Profile for 241 adult stalkers referred to a community-based forensic mental health service found reliability was high for stalker type, and moderate-to-substantial for risk judgments and domain scores.

An examination chair to measure internal rotation of the hip in routine settings: a validation study.

TL;DR: The use of the examination chair resulted in a precise assessment of hip IR in the authors' population-based inception cohort study of young asymptomatic males and was strongly correlated with standard clinical assessment of IR but was considerably more reliable.
