Transparent conductors as solar energy materials: A panoramic review
TL;DR: Transparent conductors (TCs) have a multitude of applications for solar energy utilization and for energy savings, especially in buildings as discussed by the authors, which leads naturally to considerations of spectral selectivity, angular selectivity, and temporal variability of TCs, as covered in three subsequent sections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface plasmons in metallic nanoparticles: fundamentals and applications
TL;DR: An overview of surface plasmons in metallic nanoparticles can be found in this article, where a comparison with simple linear oscillators is made with the most common approximations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Review of physical vapor deposited (PVD) spectrally selective coatings for mid- and high-temperature solar thermal applications
TL;DR: In this paper, the state-of-the-art physical vapor deposited solar selective coatings used for solar thermal applications with an emphasis on sputter deposited coatings for high-temperature applications.

Semiconducting transparent thin films: their properties and applications
A. L. Dawar,J. C. Joshi +1 more
TL;DR: The state of the art of transparent, electrically conducting films, with special reference to In2O3, SnO2 and Cd2SnO4, has been reviewed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thin metallic oxides as transparent conductors
TL;DR: In this article, the optical and electrical properties of these layers are very similar: for thicknesses in the range of a few hundred nanometers, a resistivity ϱ of the order of 4 × 10−4 Ω cm and a transparency T of 80%-90% in the visible range of the spectrum are obtained.

Optical Properties of Semiconductors
H. R. Philipp,H. Ehrenreich +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant and the function describing the energy loss of fast electrons traversing the materials are deduced from the Kramers-Kronig relations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amorphous silicon solar cell
D. E. Carlson,C R M Wronski +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, thin film solar cells, ∼ 1 μm thick, have been fabricated from amorphous silicon deposited from a glow discharge in silane, and the cells were made in a p i n structure by using doping gases in the discharge.

Bonds and Bands in Semiconductors
TL;DR: This article has tried to show how this realm between physics and chemistry can be treated accurately and realistically within the framework of theory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical Properties of Ag and Cu
H. Ehrenreich,H. R. Philipp +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, experimental data for the optical constants of Ag and Cu extending to 25 eV are discussed in terms of three fundamental physical processes: (1) free-electron effects, (2) interband transitions, and (3) collective oscillations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simple band model for amorphous semiconducting alloys
TL;DR: Amorphous covalent alloys particularly of group-IV, -V, and -VI elements are readily formed over broad ranges of composition and have been described as low-mobility electronic intrinsic semiconductors with a temperature-activated electrical conductivity σ = σ 0×exp(-ΔE/kT) which sometimes extends well into the molten state as discussed by the authors.
