Localised creep cavitation on boron nitride in the heat affected zone of 9% Cr tempered martensitic steel welds
TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic investigation has been performed documenting details of creep damage in the heat affected zone of a weld joint constructed by using a 9% Cr Grade 92 steel, and a combination of correlative characterisation techniques has been applied to monitor and quantify the evolution of damage within the heat-affected zone through the entire creep life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microstructure evolution, fracture and hardening mechanisms of quenched and tempered steel for large sized bearing rings at elevated quenching temperatures
TL;DR: In this article, a steel with a higher C and Ni content was developed for use in large sized bearing rings, and the impact energy and hardness of the quenched and tempered steel increase with the temperature, but then decrease when the temperature is above 925 °C.

Archaeometric examination of medieval ferruginous smithing slags collected from the sites of Tell Dhiban, Jordan and the Armenian Garden, Jerusalem, Israel
TL;DR: In this article, two assemblages of chronologically contemporary medieval iron smithing slags, collected from the southern Levantine archaeological sites of Tell Dhiban and the Armenian Garden, have been studied archaeometrically.

The characterisation of white-etching layers formed on engineering steels
TL;DR: In this paper, the presence of a hard white-etching layer on each of the samples was first established using metallographic examination by light microscopy and microhardness testing to confirm the etchresistance and high hardness of the white-layer.

Effects of Electropulsing on the Microstructure Evolution of 316L Stainless Steel
Wenjun Lu,Rongshan Qin +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of electropulsing on the evolution of microstructure for 316L stainless steel were investigated. And the kinetic and thermodynamic aspects were used to explain the effects.
