Enhanced mechanical properties of martensitic stainless steels resistance spot welds enabled by in situ rapid tempering

TL;DR: In this paper, in situ rapid tempering via applying a second fuse zone was proposed to improve the resistance spot weldability of martensitic stainless steels, which is impaired by the formation of brittle martensite in the fusion zone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Non-destructive measurement of microstructure and tensile strength in varying thickness commercial DP steel strip using an EM sensor

TL;DR: In this article, an electromagnetic sensor-sample FE model, developed in COMSOL multi-physics software, has been developed to determine the relationship between the low magnetic field relative permeability and microstructure (phase balance and grain size) for commercial dual phase (DP) steel sheets of any thickness.
Journal ArticleDOI

An integrated-model for austenite yield strength considering the influence of temperature and strain rate in lean steels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a more robust model, which includes the contribution of the strain rate and wider composition and temperature ranges by integrating different formulations, providing improvement at predicting yield strength with respect to previous models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ab initio modeling of decomposition in iron based alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a review of recent progress in the field of ab initio-based simulations of structure and properties of Fe-based alloys, focusing on thermodynamics of these alloys and their decomposition kinetics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructural investigation of galvanized coatings with prior flash coating of copper on DP steels

TL;DR: In this article, annealing and subsequent galvanizing operations were performed using hot dip simulator and XRD and SEM analysis were done to examine the characteristics of deposited copper layer and different layers in the galvanized coating were investigated in great detail.
